Jones Road Beauty Review | My Favourite Jones Road Products

jones road review

I've been doing a few one-brand beauty roundups lately and this week it's Jones Road Beauty's turn! Founded by Bobbi Brown after leaving her namesake company in 2016, Jones Road Beauty launched on October 26, 2020, on the same day her 25-year non-compete agreement with Estee Lauder expired! The company was built around the philosophy that the world doesn't need more beauty products, it needs better beauty products, the brand focuses on simple, easy-to-use formulas designed to enhance your natural beauty rather than cover it up. I've been lucky enough to try a selection of products from the range over the last year, so today I'm sharing my thoughts on the products in my collection and which ones I'd most recommend picking up.

jones road miracle balm review

My first foray into Jones Road Beauty was the Miracle Balm* in Flushed, a cool pink shade with a subtle sheen and sheer-to-buildable coverage. Described as a light-reflecting balm rather than a traditional blush, it can be used in a variety of ways and gives the skin a fresh, healthy-looking glow. The texture is so unique and unlike anything else in my collection. You need to break the surface of the balm with your index finger first, and then warm it up to soften the formula. It doesn't fully set on my skin and retains a slight tackiness, which makes it one of my favourite products to wear during Alberta's cold, dry winters. I often reach for it on days when the temperature falls below -10°C as it gives my cheeks a little extra protection while still looking beautiful on the skin.

I apply it over foundation using the Everything Brush* - a dense, wide and flat brush that gives controlled, even coverage - and have been impressed by both the colour payoff and wear time. Despite the balmy texture, I haven't noticed it fading or transferring throughout the day and it keeps my skin hydrated while giving it a healthy sheen without ever looking greasy. The full-size compact contains a generous 50g of product and, honestly, I think it would take me years to finish. Therefore, I was very happy when Jones Road made the Mini Miracle Balms* permanent! I have the shades Chic, Cheeky and Golden Hour and find the smaller size much more practical while still containing plenty of product, and you can also bundle these for a saving! The formula is incredibly easy to build and blend, making all three shades very wearable. The brand actually sent me two full-size Miracle Balms in Flushed, so I passed one on to a friend who quickly became a fan too, even decanting some of it to keep in her handbag! Her verdict? "I need this product in my life!" High praise indeed!

Continuing with blush and earlier this year Jones Road launched the Blushing Sticks*. These are buttery lip and cheek tints that are easy to apply, blend beautifully and can be built up from a sheer wash of colour to something a little more noticeable. Unlike the Miracle Balms, which stay balmy on the skin, the Blushing Sticks feel more like a traditional cream blush and leave behind a soft-sheen finish without any shimmer. I love the matte pink packaging and satisfying magnetic closure, and the formula looks just as lovely on the lips as it does on the cheeks. They wear well throughout the day on my skin and are incredibly easy to apply either directly from the stick or with a brush. I have three of the nine shades: Bare (a cool dusty rose), Pinch (a neutral rose) and Joy (a sheer raspberry), and all three are beautiful everyday colours.

Moving onto base, the Your Skin Foundation Stick* is described as offering medium to full, buildable coverage, although I'd personally say it leans more towards light to medium coverage with a very natural-looking finish. The formula is creamy and lightweight, gliding onto the skin without dragging and blending out effortlessly with a brush. It feels comfortable to wear throughout the day and never looks cakey or heavy on my skin.

I was sent the shades Beige and Neutral Beige, both of which are described as light to medium shades with neutral undertones. They're a little too dark for me unless I have some tan on, but the formula itself wears beautifully on my combination skin. I do get a little oily around my nose throughout the day, but the foundation stays in place well and is easy to touch up with a little powder. I also love the weighty magnetic packaging, which feels luxurious and the packaging is sleek which makes this a great option for travelling. It's no surprise this foundation went on to win an Allure Best of Beauty Award this year, as it's one of the easiest stick foundations I've tried.

jones road brightening concealer review

Some of the newer products to the Jones Road Beauty lineup are the Wide Awake Brightening Neutraliser* and Concealers* (name change pending). The formula is thicker and firmer than I was initially expecting, but it spreads easily once warmed up and I find using my ring finger works particularly well for application. I have the Wide Awake Brightening Neutraliser in Fair Peach, which does a great job of colour-correcting and brightening my dark under-eye area. For concealer, I have the shades 8N (light with neutral undertones) and 9W (light to medium with warm undertones). Both are a little darker than I would normally choose, although 9W works well for me.

The coverage is medium to full, the formulas layer beautifully without looking cakey and they wear well throughout the day on my combination skin when set with powder. Despite the higher coverage, they still manage to look quite natural and never feel heavy under the eyes.

jones road bright skin illuminating drops review

I also have the Bright Skin Illuminating Drops* and I have not stopped using these since I got them! They give my skin a soft, natural-looking glow while adding a boost of hydration. I've mainly been mixing them into my foundation and the ultra-fine pearls add the most beautiful luminosity without looking glittery or over the top. They can also be mixed into moisturiser (for the face or body) or worn on bare skin for a subtle glow. I have the shade Gilded, a white gold, and it works beautifully with my complexion. I've had no issues with it pilling under my skincare or makeup and I honestly think this might be one of my favourite products from the brand. Plus, just look at that chic packaging... obsessed!

jones road the statement mascara review

Next up is the Statement Mascara* in Black. The wand was a little bit of a learning curve for me as I'm more used to smaller, non-curved brushes, but once I got the hang of it I really enjoyed the formula. It separates my lashes beautifully and after a couple of coats gives great volume without looking clumpy. Best of all, I haven't experienced any smudging or flaking, which is always my biggest concern with mascara!

Lastly for makeup, the Lip Recharge* in Rose (a sheer pink with gold shimmer) is probably one of my favourites from everything I've tried! I'm a sucker for a good lip product and I'm absolutely obsessed with the cooling metal applicator tip. Despite containing shimmer, it doesn't leave my lips looking glittery and instead adds a beautiful glossy finish with just a hint of sparkle. The formula leaves my lips feeling smooth, hydrated and comfortable, while also giving them a lovely shine that lasts well. It contains peptides, vitamin E and shea butter, plus a subtle mint scent that makes it feel even more refreshing to use. This has quickly become a handbag staple for me!

For skincare, I have the Eye Cream* and have been really enjoying it. The lightweight formula keeps my under-eyes nicely hydrated and sits well under makeup, making it the perfect partner for the Wide Awake Brightening Neutraliser and Concealer. It contains macadamia seed oil and trehalose to help support hydration and I've had no issues with pilling or creasing.

jones road body care review

I also have a couple of products from the body care range. The Body Scrub* contains natural bamboo powder and strikes a great balance between being effective and gentle. It gives me the level of exfoliation I want without feeling abrasive, and my skin always feels noticeably smoother, softer and brighter afterwards. The Body Cream* might be one of the richest body moisturisers I've ever tried! Formulated with sodium hyaluronate, natural oils and ceramides, it leaves my skin feeling incredibly soft, nourished and hydrated with a gorgeous glow. I personally prefer using it at night as it takes a little while to sink in, although the downside is that I found myself getting through the tub surprisingly quickly! Both products have a subtle citrus scent that doesn't linger on the skin and I am completely obsessed with the matte blue packaging, which looks so chic in the bathroom.

jones road beauty review

Overall, I've been really impressed with the products I've tried from Jones Road Beauty. The brand's focus on effortless, skin-loving makeup really shines through and I usually reach for at least one of the products everyday while doing my makeup! If I had to pick just a few standout products, they'd be the Miracle Balm, Lip Recharge and Bright Skin Illuminating Drops. Honourable mentions also go to the Blushing Sticks and Statement Mascara, both of which have become favourites too. I know the foundation stick and concealers would be favourites too if they match my natural colouring a little better!

Jones Road Beauty is available directly from their website and I would definitely recommend checking the brand out if you love natural looking makeup and easy to use formulas! All Jones Road Beauty products are cruelty-free and Leaping Bunny Certified. Let me know if you have tried Jones Road or what's on your wish list!

ZIIP HALO 2.0 Review: Nanocurrent & Microcurrent Results + My Discount Code

ziip halo and gels review

I was so excited to have been sent the ZIIP HALO 2.0* (use code DANIELLEBEAUTY for 10% off on the ZIIP website) back in January and, after using it consistently for 10 months, I'm finally ready to share my full review. While I've tried microcurrent devices in the past, the ZIIP HALO 2.0 stood out to me thanks to its combination of both microcurrent and nanocurrent technology, as well as the huge variety of treatments available through the app.

This is a sleek little device that combines microcurrent (low-level electrical stimulation to temporarily energise facial muscles) with nanocurrent technology (operates at a significantly lower level and is designed to work more closely with the skin itself rather than the muscles beneath it). While microcurrent contributes to a more lifted, sculpted and toned appearance, helping to soften the look of fine lines over time, nanocurrent supports the skin's natural bioelectricity and helps improve the appearance of overall skin health, radiance and texture while also encouraging collagen production. By combining both technologies, the ZIIP HALO aims to deliver both immediate and longer-term results. It also pairs with a handy app that allows you to choose guided treatments tailored to specific skin concerns, making the experience much more personalised.

ziip halo whats in the box

The ZIIP HALO is priced at $539.99 CAD | $399.99 USD | £379.99 and comes neatly packaged with everything you need to get started. Mine included the device itself, three 30ml conductive gels (Golden, Silver and Crystal), a storage bag, USB-C charging cable and a user manual. Considering the price of the device, I was pleased that it arrived with multiple gels so I could start using it straight away without needing to purchase any extras. (They actually updated the gels last week, so it now comes with four reformulated versions: Firm Gel, Glow Gel, Refresh Gel and Clear Gel!)

I immediately downloaded the ZIIP Beauty app (free on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store), which features 17 different treatments targeting concerns including wrinkles and fine lines, skin prep, skin health and problem skin. The HALO can be used without the app, defaulting to the pre-programmed 4 Minute Facial, but I think the app is what really sets the device apart! After connecting the device via Bluetooth, you can choose a treatment and the app sends a unique waveform to your ZIIP HALO. ZIIP founder Melanie Simon then guides you through each session on screen, showing you exactly where to place the device, making the treatments straightforward and easy to follow, even for beginners!

ziip halo beauty gels review

Before each treatment, you'll need to apply one of the conductive gels* (the app shows you where) and it's also worth noting that ZIIP should never be used directly over the thyroid, a small butterfly-shaped gland located at the front of the neck. The three gels that came with my device all felt lovely on the skin and didn't dry out during treatments. Not only do they allow the electrical currents to travel effectively through the skin, but they're also packed with beneficial skincare ingredients. I've enjoyed using all three formulas and am looking forward to trying the newly reformulated versions when I run out!

ziip halo review

One of my favourite things about the ZIIP HALO is the variety of treatments available, with options targeting everything from wrinkles and fine lines to problem skin, skin health and skin prep. Treatments range from just 1 minute to 12 minutes, making it easy to fit a session into your routine whether you have a couple of minutes or a little longer. I also often combine multiple treatments in one session, particularly some of the shorter ones, to create a routine tailored to whatever my skin needs that day. Having worked my way through all of the treatments many times over the last 10 months, I've found myself returning to certain treatments again and again depending on what my skin needs.

My most-used treatment is Instant Lift, which focuses on the facial muscles to create a more lifted and toned appearance. If I'm looking for more definition, I'll often follow it with Sculpt, another favourite that has a faster tempo and leaves my face looking more sculpted. For overall radiance, I enjoy Glow Renewal, a gentler nanocurrent treatment that leaves my complexion looking softer and glowier afterwards, while The Everything Facial is a great all-rounder that incorporates multiple benefits into one treatment. When my skin is acting up, I usually reach for Skin Clarity, which I find helps improve the appearance of blemishes in the days following treatment. I also regularly use Barrier Boost when my skin feels like it needs a little extra support.

Some of the shorter treatments are also surprisingly effective. Tone Balancer is my go-to for pigmentation and dark spots, although it can feel quite intense in certain areas, while Lips gives a noticeable temporary plumping effect. The 4 Minute Facial is another handy option when I'm short on time but still want a quick treatment. The app also includes additional treatments such as Neck, Jowls, Plump, Eyes, Pigmentation, Calm and Spots, giving plenty of options to customise your routine.

ziip halo beauty microcurrent device review

I owned a NuFACE Mini years ago and, honestly, it ended up gathering dust as I barely used it. I got bored of repeating the same treatment over and over and struggled to stay motivated enough to use it consistently. In comparison, the ZIIP HALO has kept me much more engaged thanks to its wider range of targeted treatments. The guided videos within the app also make the experience feel much more interactive and easy to follow. It also feels noticeably gentler on my skin than the NuFACE, making each session more comfortable while still giving me the results I'm looking for.

With consistent use, my skin has been looking more radiant overall, as well as visibly firmer and more lifted. I recently asked a friend if she'd noticed anything different about my skin and she immediately commented that my "elevens" were looking better! As someone who has been toying with the idea of Botox, I was very happy to hear that. While my main reason for wanting the ZIIP HALO was its anti-ageing benefits, I've also found myself reaching for it when my skin is blemished. In particular, the

For best results, ZIIP recommends using the device 3-5 times per week, with a maximum of 6 times per week when following a short-term treatment plan. Compared to my other main skincare device, the CurrentBody LED Mask, I do find the ZIIP a little more time-intensive as I always end up cleansing my face again after a treatment to remove any remaining gel. Another potential downside is the cost of the conductive gels, which range from $84.99 CAD | $59.99 USD | £49.99 to $129.99 CAD | $89.99 USD | £69.99 for 80ml. That said, I was pleasantly surprised by how long they lasted. The three 30ml tubes included with my device have seen me through almost 10 months of regular use, with one finished, one nearly finished and the third only recently opened. Another slight downside is that the original gel packaging can be a little messy and I did find they leaked occasionally. I was therefore pleased to see that the newly reformulated gels now come with a roller applicator, which should make the whole process much less messy!

Cleaning the ZIIP HALO is quick and straightforward. After each treatment, I wipe away any excess gel from the device with rubbing alcohol before storing it back in the storage bag. The battery life has been excellent and lasts ages! When it does need to be charged, the light band around the centre glows orange and switches off once fully charged. I also love how compact and lightweight it is, making it easy to pack when travelling.

ziip beauty worth it

Overall, the ZIIP HALO has been an excellent addition to my skincare routine and I've genuinely enjoyed using it over the last 10 months as it has become part of my self care ritual. I've seen noticeable improvements in the overall radiance of my skin, as well as a firmer, more lifted appearance, and I love that I can tailor treatments to whatever my skin needs on a particular day.

While the device is certainly an investment, I think the variety of treatments, ease of use and guided app experience help justify the price. Unlike other microcurrent devices I've tried in the past, the ZIIP HALO has kept me engaged and reaching for it continually rather than ending up forgotten in a drawer. Like any microcurrent device though, consistency is key and results will gradually fade if you stop using it. If you're looking for a device that can target both signs of ageing and overall skin health, and you're willing to be consistent with your use, I'd definitely recommend considering the ZIIP HALO. It's one of the beauty devices I reach for most often and I can see it remaining a long-term part of my skincare routine!

If you're tempted to give the ZIIP HALO a try, you can use my code DANIELLEBEAUTY for 10% off on the ZIIP website. Considering the price of the device, it's nice to have a saving if you've already been considering investing in one. After 10 months of use, I can honestly say it's become one of the beauty devices I reach for most often!

Please note that microcurrent devices are not suitable for everyone. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device, experience seizures, are undergoing cancer treatment, or have any medical concerns, I would recommend checking the full contraindications and safety information on the ZIIP website before purchasing!

Nudestix Review | My Favourite Nudestix Makeup Products

I've been meaning to put together a Nudestix* review for the past few months now and after trying enough products from the brand, I finally feel like I can share a proper roundup of my favourites! Founded in Canada by chemical engineer Jenny Frankel and her daughters Taylor and Ally Frankel, Nudestix is known for their easy-to-use stick formulas and effortless approach to makeup. Let’s take a look at the products in my collection and what I'd recommend picking up!

nudestix review

As you can see, the products I have most of are blush and there are three formulas here - cream, liquid and cream to powder). Starting with the full sizes, I have the Nudies Matte All Over Face Blush Colour* in Sunkissed Pink (a cool pink). This is the original formula and delivers a bold, matte, longwear colour with a natural finish. I also have the Nudies Matte Lux All Over Face Blush Colour* in Nude Buff (a neutral warm rose tan) and Juicy Melons (a coral) which are cream-to-powder, blurring and buildable. I love both formulas and the main difference I find is the Lux version has a little more slip and is less pigmented so easier to build! They all come with a built-in removable brush which is perfect if you are on the go and come in a cute tin with a handy mirror too! If you're new to Nudestix, I'd especially recommend starting with the Nudies Matte All Over Face Blush Colour range as they're easy to apply, blend beautifully and come in a wide variety of flattering shades.

Mini Pink Nude Blush Kit

I also have the Mini Pink Nude Blush Kit* (which also comes in a tin with mirror in the lid) and three of their bestselling Nudies Matte All Over Face Blush Colour in the shades Bare Back (a neutral nude pink), Naughty N’ Spice (a neutral deep rose) and Cherie (a neutral nude coral-rose). The formula is so easy to work with - you can apply directly to the skin or use a brush and they blend easily, last well and are suitable for face, lips and eyes! The shades are super flattering and the mini size is perfect for travelling!

nudestix spf review

Next up is the Nudescreen SPF 30 Blush Tint* and I have the shades Sunny Sweet Cheeks (a warm, soft coral pink), Strawberry Sunburst (a warm, rich coral red) and Peaches N’ Sol (a warm, fresh peach). These are tinted liquid blushes safe for cheeks, lips and eyes. The formula is lightweight and hydrating and the pigment is easily buildable and doesn’t wear off on my skin throughout the day - I like to squeeze onto the back of my hand then pick it up with a brush and apply so I can build it up! Strawberry Sunburst in particular really mimics the look of a natural hint of colour from the sun (but in a much safer way!). They protect against UVA/UVB rays, blue light, and environmental stressors and are also reef-safe! I obviously use SPF all over as normal but it’s nice to have a little extra on part of my face that picks up the sun!

swatches l-r: Mineral Veil in Nude, Strawberry Sunburst, Sunny Sweet Cheeks, Peaches N' Sol

Finally for blush, I have the Stax Blush Balm* in Barely Nude (a neutral warm rose tan) which gives a beautiful, subtle flush to my cheeks! I love the magnetic packaging and this is also stackable with other shades in the formula! All three formulas are so easy to work with, buildable and last all day on my combo skin - though worth noting I powder my skin before applying!

nudestix Stax Blush Balm in Barely Nude swatch

For base, I have the Nudescreen Daily Mineral Veil SPF 30 in Nude*. This is a light, hydrating, and oil-free SPF lotion that helps protect against free radicals as well as blue light. It is reef-safe and a mineral formulation that comes in an airless pump-tube to protect the formula's stability and makes it  easy to dispense. The shade nude was a little darker than I was expecting so I do wonder if I should have got the shade Cool which is untinted! Despite being darker than expected it does sheer out once you start rubbing it in and I like to use this under foundation and it gives a really lovely base and helps protect my skin!

Lastly, I have the Hydrating Peptide Lip Butter* which has become a handbag staple for me and I just finished one a few weeks ago so I was glad to have a back up! It’s a glossy lip balm that contains avocado and shea butters to keep lips hydrated as well as lip plumping peptides to increase lip fullness. It has a lovely fresh vanilla mint flavour and I would love to try a tinted shade next!

nudestix makeup review

Overall, I've been really impressed with the Nudestix makeup products I've tried so far. While this collection only scratches the surface of the brand's extensive makeup and skincare range, every product has been easy to use, blendable and suitable for everyday wear. My standout product is definitely the Nudies Matte All Over Face Blush Colour thanks to its long-lasting formula, flattering shades and versatility across the cheeks, lips and eyes. If you're looking for effortless, natural-looking makeup, Nudestix is absolutely a brand worth exploring. They are also cruelty free and Leaping Bunny certified!

As well as directly on their own website, Nudestix are available at Sephora and they regularly have deals on their products! Have you tried much from Nudestix? What are your favourites?
