ZIIP HALO 2.0 Review: Nanocurrent & Microcurrent Results + My Discount Code

ziip halo and gels review

I was so excited to have been sent the ZIIP HALO 2.0* (use code DANIELLEBEAUTY for 10% off on the ZIIP website) back in January and, after using it consistently for 10 months, I'm finally ready to share my full review. While I've tried microcurrent devices in the past, the ZIIP HALO 2.0 stood out to me thanks to its combination of both microcurrent and nanocurrent technology, as well as the huge variety of treatments available through the app.

This is a sleek little device that combines microcurrent (low-level electrical stimulation to temporarily energise facial muscles) with nanocurrent technology (operates at a significantly lower level and is designed to work more closely with the skin itself rather than the muscles beneath it). While microcurrent contributes to a more lifted, sculpted and toned appearance, helping to soften the look of fine lines over time, nanocurrent supports the skin's natural bioelectricity and helps improve the appearance of overall skin health, radiance and texture while also encouraging collagen production. By combining both technologies, the ZIIP HALO aims to deliver both immediate and longer-term results. It also pairs with a handy app that allows you to choose guided treatments tailored to specific skin concerns, making the experience much more personalised.

The ZIIP HALO is priced at $539.99 CAD | $399.99 USD | £379.99 and comes neatly packaged with everything you need to get started. Mine included the device itself, three 30ml conductive gels (Golden, Silver and Crystal), a storage bag, USB-C charging cable and a user manual. Considering the price of the device, I was pleased that it arrived with multiple gels so I could start using it straight away without needing to purchase any extras. (They actually updated the gels last week, so it now comes with four reformulated versions: Firm Gel, Glow Gel, Refresh Gel and Clear Gel!)

I immediately downloaded the ZIIP Beauty app (free on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store), which features 17 different treatments targeting concerns including wrinkles and fine lines, skin prep, skin health and problem skin. The HALO can be used without the app, defaulting to the pre-programmed 4 Minute Facial, but I think the app is what really sets the device apart! After connecting the device via Bluetooth, you can choose a treatment and the app sends a unique waveform to your ZIIP HALO. ZIIP founder Melanie Simon then guides you through each session on screen, showing you exactly where to place the device, making the treatments straightforward and easy to follow, even for beginners!

Before each treatment, you'll need to apply one of the conductive gels* (the app shows you where) and it's also worth noting that ZIIP should never be used directly over the thyroid, a small butterfly-shaped gland located at the front of the neck. The three gels that came with my device all felt lovely on the skin and didn't dry out during treatments. Not only do they allow the electrical currents to travel effectively through the skin, but they're also packed with beneficial skincare ingredients. I've enjoyed using all three formulas and am looking forward to trying the newly reformulated versions when I run out!

One of my favourite things about the ZIIP HALO is the variety of treatments available, with options targeting everything from wrinkles and fine lines to problem skin, skin health and skin prep. Treatments range from just 1 minute to 12 minutes, making it easy to fit a session into your routine whether you have a couple of minutes or a little longer. I also often combine multiple treatments in one session, particularly some of the shorter ones, to create a routine tailored to whatever my skin needs that day. Having worked my way through all of the treatments many times over the last 10 months, I've found myself returning to certain treatments again and again depending on what my skin needs.

My most-used treatment is Instant Lift, which focuses on the facial muscles to create a more lifted and toned appearance. If I'm looking for more definition, I'll often follow it with Sculpt, another favourite that has a faster tempo and leaves my face looking more sculpted. For overall radiance, I enjoy Glow Renewal, a gentler nanocurrent treatment that leaves my complexion looking softer and glowier afterwards, while The Everything Facial is a great all-rounder that incorporates multiple benefits into one treatment. When my skin is acting up, I usually reach for Skin Clarity, which I find helps improve the appearance of blemishes in the days following treatment. I also regularly use Barrier Boost when my skin feels like it needs a little extra support.

Some of the shorter treatments are also surprisingly effective. Tone Balancer is my go-to for pigmentation and dark spots, although it can feel quite intense in certain areas, while Lips gives a noticeable temporary plumping effect. The 4 Minute Facial is another handy option when I'm short on time but still want a quick treatment. The app also includes additional treatments such as Neck, Jowls, Plump, Eyes, Pigmentation, Calm and Spots, giving plenty of options to customise your routine.

I owned a NuFACE Mini years ago and, honestly, it ended up gathering dust as I barely used it. I got bored of repeating the same treatment over and over and struggled to stay motivated enough to use it consistently. In comparison, the ZIIP HALO has kept me much more engaged thanks to its wider range of targeted treatments. The guided videos within the app also make the experience feel much more interactive and easy to follow. It also feels noticeably gentler on my skin than the NuFACE, making each session more comfortable while still giving me the results I'm looking for.

With consistent use, my skin has been looking more radiant overall, as well as visibly firmer and more lifted. I recently asked a friend if she'd noticed anything different about my skin and she immediately commented that my "elevens" were looking better! As someone who has been toying with the idea of Botox, I was very happy to hear that. While my main reason for wanting the ZIIP HALO was its anti-ageing benefits, I've also found myself reaching for it when my skin is blemished. In particular, the

For best results, ZIIP recommends using the device 3-5 times per week, with a maximum of 6 times per week when following a short-term treatment plan. Compared to my other main skincare device, the CurrentBody LED Mask, I do find the ZIIP a little more time-intensive as I always end up cleansing my face again after a treatment to remove any remaining gel. Another potential downside is the cost of the conductive gels, which range from $84.99 CAD | $59.99 USD | £49.99 to $129.99 CAD | $89.99 USD | £69.99 for 80ml. That said, I was pleasantly surprised by how long they lasted. The three 30ml tubes included with my device have seen me through almost 10 months of regular use, with one finished, one nearly finished and the third only recently opened. Another slight downside is that the original gel packaging can be a little messy and I did find they leaked occasionally. I was therefore pleased to see that the newly reformulated gels now come with a roller applicator, which should make the whole process much less messy!

Cleaning the ZIIP HALO is quick and straightforward. After each treatment, I wipe away any excess gel from the device with rubbing alcohol before storing it back in the storage bag. The battery life has been excellent and lasts ages! When it does need to be charged, the light band around the centre glows orange and switches off once fully charged. I also love how compact and lightweight it is, making it easy to pack when travelling.

ziip beauty worth it

Overall, the ZIIP HALO has been an excellent addition to my skincare routine and I've genuinely enjoyed using it over the last 10 months as it has become part of my self care ritual. I've seen noticeable improvements in the overall radiance of my skin, as well as a firmer, more lifted appearance, and I love that I can tailor treatments to whatever my skin needs on a particular day.

While the device is certainly an investment, I think the variety of treatments, ease of use and guided app experience help justify the price. Unlike other microcurrent devices I've tried in the past, the ZIIP HALO has kept me engaged and reaching for it continually rather than ending up forgotten in a drawer. Like any microcurrent device though, consistency is key and results will gradually fade if you stop using it. If you're looking for a device that can target both signs of ageing and overall skin health, and you're willing to be consistent with your use, I'd definitely recommend considering the ZIIP HALO. It's one of the beauty devices I reach for most often and I can see it remaining a long-term part of my skincare routine!

If you're tempted to give the ZIIP HALO a try, you can use my code DANIELLEBEAUTY for 10% off on the ZIIP website. Considering the price of the device, it's nice to have a saving if you've already been considering investing in one. After 10 months of use, I can honestly say it's become one of the beauty devices I reach for most often!

Please note that microcurrent devices are not suitable for everyone. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device, experience seizures, are undergoing cancer treatment, or have any medical concerns, I would recommend checking the full contraindications and safety information on the ZIIP website before purchasing!
