Product Empties #19

product empties danielles beauty blog

This was my last empties before I moved to Canada last week so I was on a mission! I’ll try and keep it short and sweet though we both know its going to be a long one!

bodycare empties nivea soap and glory bondi sands

Bodycare
Nivea Crème and Oil Pearls Ylang Ylang* and Nivea Silk Mousse*
I loved these; both felt super luxurious and had beautiful scents. They lathered up well, kept my skin hydrated and soft and lasted me ages! One thing to note was that I dropped the Silk Mousse one day and the cap broke off but I was still able to use it easily even though it didn’t pop back on. Will 100% be repurchasing these if I can find them in Canada and they also featured in this post!

Eucerin Urea Repair Plus Footcream*
This is a great footcream – it feels really lightweight and sinks in quickly though I sometimes put a thicker layer on and leave bed socks on for a bit. It made my feet really soft and I had no rough dry skin while using this! Will definitely repurchase and you can read more about it in this post!

Bondi Sands Liquid Gold Self-Tanning Dry Oil
I love this tan, it gives a really even medium colour after one night and I sometimes top it up so it comes out a little darker. It lasts all week and wears off very naturally! It’s messier than other tans so I always lay a towel down when I use this and sort of stand over the bath if that makes sense because the spray can go over tiles etc. but its worth it! I don’t think I can get this in Canada (correct me if I’m wrong) but I will repurchase when I get a chance! I talked about it more here!

Elemis British Botanical Body Cream
I picked this up from Latest in Beauty just to try something different from my usual Soap and Glory and Nivea moisturisers and it felt lovely – it was quite silky and lightweight and absorbed quickly but I’m not keen on the scent. I found it quite spicy? I think I’ll stick to S&G and Nivea but it was nice to try something different and you can read my post on the Latest in Beauty subscription box here!

Soap and Glory Hand Maid
I love this hand sanitizer, it smells 10x better than most others and does a great job of cleansing my hands quickly without drying them out Have already repurchased!

Soap and Glory The Righteous Butter
Probably my favourite moisturiser ever, I love the scent and how soft it makes my skin! I use this morning and night so go through these quite quickly and always have a back up!

Soap and Glory Smoothie Star The Breakfast Scrub
Possible my favourite name of a Soap and Glory product ever but not my favourite scrub – I find it too thick and it doesn’t lather up for me. As a tan wearer this isn’t good enough to get it off so I always have to go over it again! Wouldn’t repurchase.

Lush Snow Fairy Body Conditioner
At first I didn’t know if this was a body wash or a moisturiser – I ended up using it after showering then rinsing off before I dried myself. Not my favourite product – it smells amazing but didn’t last on my skin though it did feel moisturising. Wouldn’t repurchase.

Ground Chocolate Orange Coffee Scrub
I only thought my body felt soft after a standard body scrub – this stuff is incredible and make my skin feel amazing! I can’t believe I didn’t use it sooner! It is messy and it says its better used in the shower where you’re meant to massage into the skin then leave on for 10 minutes. I don’t think I ever managed the full 10 minutes but my skin felt crazy soft after use – will definitely repurchase!

skincare empties nivea january lans

Skincare
Nivea Lotion
My ultimate favourite for a first cleanse, super creamy and gets most of my makeup off with ease! Already repurchased!

Nivea Daily Essentials Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover
The best waterproof eye makeup remover, end of. Already repurchased!

Pixi Glow Mud Cleanser
I love this stuff! It’s one of my favourites for a morning cleanse and the 5% glycolic acid helps gently exfoliate my skin leaving it softer and brighter! I already have a backup of this!

NIOD Sanskrit Saponins
My other current favourite morning cleanser, this stuff works well with my oily/combo skin leaving it less congested and matte ready for my next skincare steps. Will repurchase soon!

Bio-Essence Hydra Tri-Action Aqua Refreshing Toner
I love this! It’s so hydrating, full of hyaluronic acid and sets my skin up nicely for the rest of my routine! I’ll talk more about it in an upcoming post but I would 100% repurchase if I could find it again!

Boots Essentials Eye Makeup Remover Gel
This does nothing to remove any of my eye makeup but I love using it in the morning as it’s so cooling and refreshing! Will repurchase in the future!

January Labs Restorative Tonic Mist
Another product I’m sad to have finished, this works amazingly on my blemish prone skin to calm it down and I love using it with my facial roller! Does anyone know if I can get this easily in Canada?

Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater
I love this too! It feels really hydrating and it’s another one I’ve been using regularly with my facial roller – my skin has been so good over the last month *touch wood* and I think uses these two spritzes more regularly has been a big factor in it! Will repurchase when I finish the Aloe, Cucumber and Green Tea one!

Alpha H Liquid Gold
This has been in my routine now for ages, I absolutely love the stuff! My skin feels and looks more even, clear and radiant after use and I couldn’t be without it! I’ve just repurchased it with the rose version! I talk more about it here!

Pixi Beauty Sleep Cream
This is a lovely, thick but quickly absorbing night cream that leaves my skin feeling fully hydrated, smooth and plump the next morning! I talked about the Nourishing Sleep Mask a couple of empties ago but I prefer this one and will repurchase at some point!

Merumaya Mud Marvels Mask
This made my skin felt super smooth, clear and firm after use a bit like the Ultramoor Mud Mask but a lot more affordable!

Tata Harper Nourishing Oil Cleanser
Another little sample, this feels amazing on my skin, I love the scent and it removed my makeup easily. The full size if expensive so I won’t be repurchasing just yet but wouldn’t rule it out in the future!

Rodial Dragons Blood Sculpting Gel
I would probably need more aged skin to fully test the claims of this gel but it did make my skin feel more plump and it sank in nicely. The full size is expensive so it’s not something I feel I need to repurchase just yet but maybe when I’m older I will!

Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum
This is a really lightweight serum that absorbed quickly and felt very smoothing on my face. Will look at repurchasing in the future as I didn’t get to fully test its dark spot prevention but I really enjoyed using it!

Trilogy Rosehip Oil
I love this stuff! Rosehip oil has become one of my favourite skincare ingredients since I started using it as it works so well to hydrate my skin as well as fade my acne scars. I had a tiny bit of this left but will repurchase in the future when I get through a few current oils! I talked about it here too!

Hannes Dottir Seamasque
I absolutely love this little mask! It’s quite unlike anything else I have in terms of texture and gave my skin a really refreshing scrub while feeling gritty but also being really gentle. It left my skin feeling really smooth and clean and it smells minty in a good way and I would repurchase straight away if it were a little more affordable!

Ultramoor Mud Mask
I managed to get quite a few uses out of this (when I remembered about it) and it felt gorgeous on the skin. My skin looks a lot more clarified after use and felt softer and firmer. Again, the full size if expensive so I won’t be repurchasing but potentially will in the future!

Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub
I use this every day and couldn’t be without it! It exfoliates my lips easily and leaves me with a perfect base for lipstick! Have already repurchased!

May Lindstrom The Honey Mud
This is a sort of cleanser/mask and felt really thick and luxurious. My skin always felt softer after use but I don’t love the scent and it’s so expensive! Wouldn’t repurchase.

Foreo Luna Play
Another Cult Beauty GWP goodie and I loved this so much I went and bought the rechargeable! It gives a little extra to my morning cleanse and adds in so exfoliation and gets the blood circulating to my face. Couldn’t be without this now and id ready recommend this! I was always too scared to get a Clarisonic but this is so gentle and hygienic! I wrote about it more here!

skincare empties farmacy purlisse

Purlisse Blue Lotus + Seaweed Treatment Sheet Mask*
This is probably one of the most saturated in product sheet masks I’ve used! It still felt really moist even when I was ready to take it off and was really cooling on the skin while hydrating my skin and making it feel plump and soft. Would repurchase. I have a full review of all the products I was sent form this brand next month!

Farmacy Deep Moisture Hydrating Coconut gel mask
This felt great on my skin and if you saw last week’s post you’ll know I want to try more Farmacy skincare! Would possibly repurchase but I’d pick another product over a sheet mask!

Verso Reviving Eye Mask
I used this the other morning before going shopping and again it felt really cooling under my eyes and hydrating. I think this is more for people with more signs of aging under the eye which touch wood I don’t (think I) have yet! A lot of the reviews of this said they would be perfect it you had a big event to go too and I agree! The full price pack of four is £45 so you definitely don’t want to waste them just to go shopping! Wont repurchase just yet!

Skyn Iceland Plumping Lip Gel
I can’t say I noticed much difference with this but I did enjoy the feel of the mask over my lips! Wouldn’t repurchase.

Allies of Skin 1A All-Day Mask and 1A Overnight Mask
Can you tell I went in on all my Cult Beauty GWP samples this month? These two felt lovely, really hydrating but sank in well and I got about 2 uses out of each. They weren’t enough to make me want to repurchase straight away and they are expensive too so I’m glad! I would consider a purchase in the future though as they are sort of do it all products and target daily damage and acne.

haircare review ouai

Haircare
OUAI Texturizing Hair Spray
I got this in the Volume Set and was a little disappointed with the scent having loved everything else I’d tried. My hair is is long and straight and I find it hard to get much volume in it but I sprayed this over it after straightening and whenever I backcomb and it gave it a bit of hold, felt lightweight and not sticky in the slightest. Would probably repurchase the Medium hair spray next time but I did feel like I ran out of this a lot quicker than other hairsprays!

Moroccanoil Intense Hydrating Mask
I love the scent of this and it made my hair feel really soft and hydrated. I'm really bad when it comes to hair masks though so although I wouldn’t repurchase, I would happily use up again if I got it in a GWP/beauty box.

Loreal Elvive Extraordinary Clay Masque
Another treatment I’ve had for longer than I care to remember, this smelt refreshing and cooling on my scalp. It made my hair look shiny but I didn’t notice a difference in oil production though I would probably repurchase if I saw it on offer.

OUAI Treatment Masque
I’ve talked about this before too but I used a full sachet this time and my hair has never been softer! I don’t know if I would repurchase the full size on its own but would definitely pick it up if I saw it in a set or as a mini!

makeup empties revlon no7 laura mercier

Makeup
Revlon Colorstay Foundation in Buff
This is one of my favourite budget foundations as it’s so long-lasting and full coverage! Funny story, I bought two half price bottles of this in the old pump free bottle then bought this one with the pump but I still have the other two so won’t need to repurchase for a while!

laura mercier setting powder review

Laura Mercier Pressed Setting Powder in Translucent
I really like this powder though its much more expensive than I'd usually go for and it lasts nowhere near as long as my beloved No7! I feel like I touched pan on this within the first few times of using it! The fall out is so bad but it’s a lightweight non cakey powder that mattifies my oily face well! I’m tempted to try the loose powder version because I’ve heard so many good things but I probably wouldn’t repurchase the pressed version!

No7 Perfect Light Pressed Powder in Transucent
My favourite powder, this stuff is lightweight, non-cakey and mattifying! Already have a backup and I don’t know what I’m going to do because I don’t think this is in Canada!

soap and glory kick ass concealer review

Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealer
I think this is one of Soap and Glory’s more underrated products! I use this every day and its perfect as an under eye concealer and base for me! It really brightens up the area and a crayon lasts ages! Have repurchased!

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
I’ve went through quite a few of these and I think I gave it a bit of a hard time at one point but I really like having this in my collection as its perfect for covering blemishes and it doesn’t cake! Have repurchased!

Loreal Volume Million Lashes Waterproof Mascara
I love this, it separates and lengthens my lashes while adding volume and making them look really black. Will repurchase once I’ve finished a few other mascaras.

Bourjois Volume Glamour Max Holidays Waterproof Mascara
I’m gutted as I think this has been discontinued and its one of my favourite mascaras! It makes my lashes look long and defined as well as thick and volumised! It’s amazing! Will repurchase if I can find it L

Fairydrops Scandal Queen Waterproof Mascara
I recently talked about this in my Disappointing Products post so I won’t dwell on it but it’s a mess of a mascara and I hate it. It’s also the most expensive mascara I’ve bought at £18.50 and I will never repurchase! It makes me look like I have 3 eyelashes!

Charlotte Tilbury Wonder Glow
There is always so much product in these sachets! I mixed this in with my foundation the few days I wore it and it was lovely! It gave a little more radiance to my face and I’d be tempted to repurchase if I saw it on offer. I have quite a generous mini of the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector at the minute though which I’m also loving so it won’t be just yet!

bath empties

Miscellaneous
Roques ONeill Therapie Himalayan Detox Salt
This is a little extra for me – I definitely prefer bubbles in my bath but these were nice and relaxing. It recommends soaking in the bath then wrapping yourself in a towel or robe and resting for 30 minutes and I did feel a nice tingle and warmth in my feet after I got out of the bath and did this. Don’t think I would repurchase though!

Lush Magic Wand Reusable Bubble Bar
You can see this in all its glory in this post but these are such good value, give a brilliant amount of bubbles and work to soften my skin too!

Told you I was on a mission! Sorry that was so long! It was also the first time I didn't include all the photos in the main picture as there were just too many! I’m not sure I’m going to keep my empties up while I’m away *sad face*. They really are my favourite posts to write but I’ll have little enough room as it is and I can’t really stash rubbish too! I’ll maybe do mini reviews on Instagram though! Have you tried any of these products? Let me know what you thought of them!

*denotes a PR sample that was sent to me. All opinions are my own. See my full disclosure here.

Wishlist #5

danielles beauty blog wishlist

I haven’t done a wishlist post in absolutely ages! I thought with my move happening on Wednesday it would give me a little time to put together this list of what I want to pick up when I finally get to Canada and Sephora in particular. I know I could have ordered a lot of this stuff (and a lot of its available to me here though the likes of Cult Beauty) but it’s not the same as getting a look at it in store and I’ve also been on my version of a spending ban for the past five months which although wasn’t a complete success was still pretty good by my standards! Anyway, I’m looking forward to a (massive) splurge when I get over and here are the main products on my list!

I have the longest Ordinary list and I’m sure that as soon as I make an order it won’t just be these three products on it! I’ll most likely also need to pick up Alpha Arbutin and Niacinamide again as I’m almost finished both my bottles and I love the stuff! They come in glass bottles so will add a little too much weight to my luggage so I’ll leave these with my mum!

Another product that has actually been sitting in my Cult Beauty wishlist for the longest time but again I didn’t want to buy too much skincare when I knew I would be going away. I’ve heard so many good things about this product in particular but let me know if there are any other CosRX products you think I should pick up!

Youth to the People Cleasner and Cream Youth Duo
Again, this is a brand I’ve wanted to try for a while along with Farmacy Skin Saviour Kit and I do love a mini so I think these will be great ways to try the brands before committing to a full size!

It was so hard to pick just one trio out because I love the look of about three of them but though I love a coral blush, I think pinks suit me better and these look so cute! Again, not on the Sephora website – does anyone know if they will be going into Sephora soon? I think I’d like to see them in person!

Bite Beauty The Perfect Pair Amuse Bouche lipstick set Meringue/Fig
I’ve wanted to try Bite Beauty for so long and these mini lipsticks look like the perfect introduction to the brand as well as my type of shades!

I absolutely love the OUAI and have been putting off buying their dry shampoo foam because I knew I’d just be adding more weight to my suitcase. I love that it’s got a mini of the dry shampoo foam as well as the new rose hair and body oil and I already know I love the finishing cream! The OUAI scent it to die for too!

Sephora Favourite Sets
I’m hoping a few of these are still in stock when I get to Sephora as they are such good value! I really want the Sunkissed Glow set as it’s got a mini Becca highlighter and Hourglass bronzer, the Give Me Some Nude Lip kit because look at it and I want to try the NARS Velvet Lip Glide and the Safe Sun on the Fly set as I want to try Coola and Fresh! And also because I can’t resist a mini or a good value deal! Hopefully they’re still in stock but if not I’m sure Sephora will come out with something equally as good!

I would also kill to sign up to the Sephora Play Box but it’s not available in Canada L Anyway, I could probably go on but that will do me for now! Please leave me all the recommendations below for Sephora or any Canadian brands, I love reading them and adding more to my wishlist! I won’t get to a Sephora straight away but you can bet there will be a wishlist purchases post coming!

Also, sorry if I’m not as active with commenting etc. but I will try to keep up! I have loads of photos taken for posts and have some scheduled too and hope to keep up my blog while I’m away! If you want something else to read in the meantime all my wishlist and wishlist purchases posts are here!

Disappointing Products #1 ft. Too Faced, Urban Decay and Kat Von D

Danielles Beauty Blog disappointing products

I have been meaning to do one of these posts for a ridiculously long time now but I find that when I am disappointed by a product, I stop using it. This means that I can really say much about it other than I don’t like it but I have been using the products I’m talking about today regularly again over the last couple of months in an attempt to actually like them and failing that – to give a better reason as to why they are disappointing! I think some of these products usually show up in people’s favourites as well so this could be a little controversial!

soap and glory one heck of a blot primer review

This primer promises to diminish pores, offer all day shine control, hide imperfections, even out skin tone and reduce the appearance of redness and make your makeup last longer. It feels gorgeous on the skin and quite hydrating and does even out my skin but this does NOTHING for my oily face and when it’s marketed as a 12 hour shine free primer I’m allowed to feel disappointed that it doesn’t work and I have to powder my face constantly throughout the day!

Mark Hill wonder ball brush review

Mark Hill Wonder Ball Brush 6 in 1 Styling Sphere £9.99
This looks like a torture device and it feels like one too! It’s meant to detangle wet or dry hair and add lift to roots and it might if I could actually get it through my hair! This is a complete gimmick and actually painful for me to use, I tried to use this to blow dry my hair and it got so tangled I thought I would have to use scissors to get it out! I hate it!

Nuxe Reve de Miel review

I just don’t get the hype with this one at all and believe me I have tried. I’ve went through a few of these pots and this will be the last one. It does feel nice and hydrating when it’s on and it smells nice too but if I put this on at night it dries out quickly and I sometimes wake up needing to put more on. It also leaves me with disgusting white bits in between my lips when I wake up which is the reason I choose not to wear it during the day. I find Carmex and Blistex work much better on my lips overnight  and are much more affordable so I will stick to those!

Fairdrops Scandal Queen waterproof mascara review

A product I bought because of the hype and the most money I’ve ever spent on a mascara and what a waste of money it was. If you like clumpy lashes with no volume, length or definition you will love this. It seriously makes me look like I have about three lashes on each eye! The wand is an absolute mess with the fibres even after wiping the excess off the side of the tube and I absolutely hate it. It’s got marginally better as it’s dried out but I’ll be sticking to the drugstore as usual for my mascara choices from now on!

I am very hard to please when it comes to foundation – I have acne scarred skin and struggle with pigmentation issues as well as uneven texture. Paired with mainly oily but sometimes dehydrated skin and you will see why I’m so tough on my base!

too faced urban decay kat von d foundation review

I think out of the three foundations I have included is the most disappointing! It’s an oil free foundation with a medium to full coverage that promises to be undetectable and leave you looking radiant but I look like an oil slick when I wear this! It didn’t matter what primer or powder I wore, nothing worked with it!

I have the shade Vanilla which is orange as you can see from the swatch and I have to be wearing tan to make this work for me even though it’s supposedly one of the lighter shades (at least it was when I ordered it last year!). This wears off my chin and lower cheeks to the point they look stark against the shade of the foundation and for an oil free foundation I can’t believe how oily my skin gets with it!

I was so excited when Urban Decay released this as it promises to provide full coverage with a matte finish for all night wear and a flawless looking complexion. It’s got a high amount of pigment, its waterproof and it absorbs oil to reduce appearance of shine.

Although this looks good when first applied as the pigment really is amazing and it gives good coverage, it fades like mad on me! It gathers and wears off my nose and chin awfully so I end up looking patchy though I will say it doesn’t make me look oily so the matte finish gets a thumbs up from me.

This promises to even out discolouration, stop shine and hide blemishes while offering amazing coverage so long lasting you can go 24 hours without reapplying. It’s meant to stay flawless, fade, free and transfer proof but on my skin is doesn’t!

It clings to fine lines I didn’t even know where there, is patchy AF on my cheeks and chin and shine comes through my t-zone and chin after only a few hours wear. It has a tendency to “sit” on my skin no matter how much I’ve blended it in and transfers too.

too faced born this way vanilla urban decay all nighter 2 kat von d light 45 foundation swatches
Too Faced Born This Way Vanilla, Urban Decay All Nighter 2, Kat Von D Light 45 foundation swatches

I have recently found a day cream in the Nivea Cellular Radiance range that I talked about last week that works well with all three of these foundations so I have been getting on with them a lot better recently as they have been lasting longer on my skin! However, I don’t think I should have to use such a specific product underneath to get the results the foundations themselves promise!

Estee Lauder Double Wear is Holy Grail for me and I don’t think I’ll ever find something that tops it so I’m going to stop trying! Rant over! That’s my disappointing products; let me know what you think of these and if you’ve tried them!

I've also scheduled this post a little earlier than usual as I have a blog sale going up this evening! These three foundations will be in it - I've done a good job of selling them haven't I?
