Dry Shampoo Showdown

dry shampoo showdown vo5 klorane soap and glory
If you have oily hair like me you’ll know what a pain in the arse it is to wash it one day only for it to look like you’ve poured grease over it the next! Dry shampoo is a complete life saver for me as 1. I’m too lazy to wash my hair every day and 2. It’s not good for your hair to be washed that much anyway! I wash my hair every other day but these four dry shampoos have been making it look a lot more presentable in-between washes! Here’s what I think about them!

VO5 Refresh Me Quick Dry Shampoo RRP £3.50 is my old favourite and has been for the longest time now, I always go back to it! When I can find it that is! I usually get mine for £1.99 in Savers but I see that Boots have recently reintroduced it again though they currently only have the Plump it Up version. Nonetheless, if you’re on a budget or just go through dry shampoo at a ridiculous rate you should definitely check this out! The scent is really fresh and clean, it leaves no white cast and it takes the grease out of my hair quickly and easily without too much effort rubbing in!

I was recently sent the Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk for brown to dark hair* RRP £8 and the Klorane Dry Shampoo with Nettle for oily hair* RRP £8 in a generous care package personally picked out for my, you guessed it, dark and oily hair! I have been blown away by these two, where other dry shampoos take the grease out of my hair they can sometimes leave it looking dull and lifeless a few hours into the day but not these. They somehow manage to add a bit of lift to my hair as well as shine which I thought was impossible on my second day hair! I also feel like I need to use less product as they are so effective. The scent is clean and light and though they are more on the expensive side, I think they are 100% worth it! Escentual frequently do offers of their French Pharmacy products too so they are more affordable then. Read more about Klorane here and see my French Pharmacy favourites here!

Klorane is available from independent pharmacies, Boots, Escentual and Look Fantastic!

This is the newest dry shampoo to my stash and in my opinion the best smelling! I love anything Original Pink scented and the bottle doesn’t lie – the touch release technology is amazing and I get gorgeous whiffs of this throughout the day when I ruffle my hair! As a dry shampoo alone, it’s not my favourite, it takes the grease out of my hair but it still it can get a little too lank for my liking as the day goes on. Saying that, I would still be tempted to repurchase if they brought out a Mist You Madly fragranced version!

What’s your favourite dry shampoo? The OUAI Dry Shampoo foam is next on my hit list!

Skincare Review | Nourishing my Skin with Burt’s Bees

Burt's Bees skincare review

Burt’s Bees Beeswax lip balm is possibly my favourite lipbalm of all time so I was more than a little excited to get to try out a few more products from their extensive skincare line! With no phthalates, parabens, petrolatum or SLS and no animal testing, Burt’s Bees is earth friendly and natural!

Your skin is your biggest organ and Burt’s Bees harness the power of nature to offer a range of skincare solutions that deep clean, hydrate and reveal beautiful skin naturally. I received a cleanser, two items from the Intense Hydration range and a moisturiser from the Sensitive range and here’s what I thought!

For reference, I have a mixed bag of skin – its oily/combo, dehydrated in parts and blemish prone!

burts bees cleansing oil intense hydration treatment mask review

Burt’s Bees Facial Cleansing Oil with Coconut and Argan Oils* RRP £16.99
I love the scent of this oil, it’s a very lightweight coconut scent that isn’t overpowering at all!
The oils help keep skin soft, clean and nourished and it gently removes my makeup with ease without leaving an oily residue behind. My eyes are a little sensitive to this so I tend to avoid that area. I do a first cleanse on my eyes with the Nivea Daily Essentials Double Effect eye makeup remover which gets my waterproof makeup off so this isn’t a problem for me but if you have sensitive eyes like me go gently! I’ve been using this every other evening since I got it a month ago and I can’t get over how little it’s gone down – one full pump is way too much for my face and it’s so easy to just pump out half so I can see this lasting me ages! It’s also 100% natural!

The Intense Hydration range is infused with Clary Sage and is scientifically proven to intensely hydrate dry skin and also help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The formula helps increase the skins ability to retain moisture so dry skin is left feeling soft and supple for a revitalised look.

Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Treatment Mask* RRP £19.99
The directions for use for this mask are to apply a thick layer over cleansed skin and leave on for 5-10 minutes then remove excess with a tissue and massage in the rest. My skin has been lapping this up! For a quick injection of hydration this is brilliant, I can’t get over how much has sunk in when I go back after 10 minutes and I generally skip the tissue part and just massage the rest in. This leaves my skin feeling soft and supple as well as fully hydrated and replenished. Its 99% natural and comes in a massive tube so again will last ages!

burts bees intense hydration night cream review

The 99% natural night cream feels really thick and hydrating and I find the Clary Sage scent very calming. This cream is easily spread over my skin and absorbs really well! When I wake up my skin feels softer and smoother and - though I have been using a lot of products recently that target fine lines and wrinkles so it might not all be down to this product – I am so happy with the reduction in fine lines on my forehead and I find I’m not getting as many dry patches! I think my skin will love this even more in Winter when my skin is prone to more dryness! While the glass jar feels luxe this isn’t travel friendly so that’s the only change I would make!

burts bees sensitive daily moisturizing cream review

The Sensitive range is scientifically proven to moisturise sensitive skin without over drying or causing redness. It’s formulated with softening Cotton extract to help skin replenish its outer layer while minimising the effects of potential irritants while rice extract moisturisers and aloe soothes your skin. It’s a fragrance free, lightweight, non-greasy moisturiser that absorbs into my skin quickly and leaves it feeling soft and hydrated ready for my makeup. I have basically stopped wearing a separate primer due to this moisturiser and a few others because they work so well under makeup! As you would expected from a moisturiser that’s formulated for sensitive skin; it’s hypoallergenic, non comedogenic, dermatologist tested and its 99% natural.

Overall, I’m really impressed with my foray into the Burt’s Bees skincare range and love how they make my skin feel! At first glance, the price point was higher than I had expected but after using these products they are definitely worth the money for the amount of product you get and how well they work on my skin!

Burt’s Bees also have a radiance range as well as anti-blemish solutions and are available from Boot’s where there is usually an offer to be had on 3 for 2 etc.!
