Product Empties #37

product empties daniellesbeautyblog

Last empties post of the year! And I think it’s my 7th of 2021, so let’s get to it!

haircare empties daniellesbeautyblog

Haircare

Schwarzkopf got2b Dry Shampoo

Been through so many of these now! It’s a great budget dry shampoo – smells fresh, leaves no white cast and lets me get another day out of greasy hair!

Skincare

Hada Labo Lotion No 1 Super Hydrator

One of the best hyaluronic acid serums I have tried! And a budget pick too! This bottle lasted forever and really helped support my skin’s hydration. Always on offer in Superdrug and I talk more about it in this budget skincare post!

Dermalogica Redness Relief Essence*

Really nice calming essence but I have others I prefer (Mugwort!) so this won’t be a repurchase. Read more here!

Dermalogica Hydro Masque Exfoliant*

Such a gorgeous mask that lightly exfoliated while also hydrating my skin. Loved the texture of this and the packaging. Would repurchase. Read more about it here!

Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel*

Love this cleanser, it’s so gentle, doesn’t foam up a crazy amount and never leaves my skin feeling tight only clean and refreshed! Perfect as a second cleanse or morning cleanser! I have a new full size kindly sent by the brand! Read more in this post!

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser

Another old favourite and great makeup remover! Creamy and removes makeup with ease. Will repurchase again in the future! Read more here!

Sand&Sky Australian Pink Clay Porefining Face Mask*

Really nice clay mask – this contains Vitamin A and was prefect for tightening pores and making my skin look smoother! Would repurchase! See more in these posts here and here!

I’m From Rice Toner

Already been through a full size of this and loved it! Such a brightening and hydrating toner, can’t recommend it enough! See more about it here!

Aromatica Reviving Rose Infusion Treatment Toner

Another nice toner though I didn’t love it as much as the rice toner as the rose scent is quite strong. Nicely hydrating though and my skin didn’t react to it! Might repurchase in the future.

Dermalogica Intensive Moisture Cleanser x2*

Lovely cleanser, I really enjoyed this, it’s creamy and, like the special cleansing gel, works well as a second or morning cleanse. Will repurchase!

Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream*

A gorgeous moisturiser perfect for morning as it sits so well under makeup. Feels lightweight but keeps my skin hydrated all day! Will repurchase!

IT Cosmetics Hello Results Wrinkle Reducing Daily Retinol Serum in Cream

Tiny sample but this was a lovely formula, felt lightweight and gentle but my skin looked plump and smooth the next day. Using a different retinol now but would consider a repurchase in the future!

Lanolips 101 Ointment Multi Balm Minty

Love Lanolps  - this kept my lips hydrated for such long time and lasts all night too. Loved the mint scent too, using the strawberry one at the minute and will repurchase! Read more about Lanolips here!

Fresh Sugar Advanced Therapy

I think these are pretty overrated – I have had tinted ones in the past and enjoy them, the formula is nice and lightweight on the lips and hydrates but it’s not longlasting and the balm itself is a gloopy nightmare. You can’t keep it in your pocket as it melts so easily and it just seems really fragile. Not a repurchase for me!

bodycare empties daniellesbeautyblog

Bodycare

Nivea Crème Soft shower cream x2

Love Nivea and always have one of their shower creams in the bathroom! They smell fresh, clean well and are super affordable! Already have a few backups!

Elemental Herbology Zest Bath & Body Oil*

Love love love this body oil. The rich orange scent smells incredible and the oil itself feels so luxurious when I rub into my skin! It hydrates well and makes my skin feel silky soft. The brand kindly sent me a top up of this but I would repurchase with my own money too! Read more about it here!

Caudalie Vine Body Butter

This managed to feel both rich and lightweight and I really enjoyed it! Not a huge fan of the scent – this one it citrusy too - but it was lightweight and didn’t linger. Skin felt soft and nourished and would repurchase if on sale again!

Rituals Ritual of Sakura Magic Touch Body Cream

Really pretty floral scent but I prefer the body shower foam in this scent if that makes sense as it doesn’t linger as much as the body cream. Still, its lightweight and hydrates my sin well!

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Daily Skin Therapy

I have had this for ages – I use it to prep my elbows, heels and hands before tanning and it does a great job! Softens them and less tan clings to dry patches!

Rituals Ritual of Sakura Celebrate Each Day Body Scrub

This is a really nourishing scrub as its suspended in oil. The scent isn’t as strong as the body cream so I really enjoyed it and how nourished it made my skin feel but it wasn’t the strongest scrub so not a repurchase for me!

OUAI Melrose Place Eau de Parfum

My favourite perfume, I love this stuff! I’ve written about it more in this post and while its not the longest lasting scent I never get sick of it! Just got a replacement as one of my Christmas presents!

makeup empties daniellesbeautyblog

Makeup

Revlon Colorstay Combination/Oily Skin in Buff

One of my favourite foundations and the best drugstore foundation I have tried too! Buff is the perfect shade for me when I have no tan on and it lasts all day – already repurchased! See more in this post!

Revlon Volume + Length Magnified Waterproof Mascara

I have repurchased this several times and it does a great job or separating my lashes and giving them length! Will repurchase in the future.

Maybelline The Colossal Big Shot Waterproof Mascara

I thought this was just the original Colossal mascara and I prefer that wand so not a repurchase for me – OK mascara but clumps more than I like! Actually only binning both of these as I had laser eye surgery earlier this month so will buy some new ones to decrease the risk of infection!

miscellaneous empties vital proteins review

Miscellaneous

Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides x2

Still on the collagen train and loving it – I can’t tell much difference in my skin but this stuff works amazingly on my joints! Already repurchased and bought some for my aunts for Christmas! Unfortunately, it’s not been dissolving as well for me recently but that’s the only downside! Always on offer at Holland and Barrett too!

Polished Teeth Whitening Strips

These definitely whitened better than the Spotlight strips which I found to have more of a brightening effect rather than whitening! Nice short term effect, I liked using these before occasions (not that there have been may this year lol) and they didn’t make my teeth sensitive. Would repurchase.

Dr Bronners 18 in 1 Tea Tree Pure Castille Soap

My favourite brush cleanser and I have been through so many bottles of these over the years! Lasts me around a year and a half and I have already repurchased the Eucalyptus scent which you can see in my last blog post here!

So that’s it for 2021 empties! Hopefully I will have just as many if not more in 2022! Do you see any of your favourites here? Let me know your thoughts!

Best Budget Skincare #2

best budget skincare

It’s been close to a year since my last best budget skincare post and when I looked at my dressing table I realised I had quite a few new additions so thought I would do round two! Budget is different for everyone but most of these are around the £10 or under mark with a few exceptions which I will explain when I get to them! There are quite a lot so I will try to keep this short and sweet but I’ve linked to their full reviews too!

best budget cleasners

First up, the Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution* RRP £11 – a cult classic and one I can see the hype with now I have tried it for myself! This is great for removing most of my makeup before going in with a balm or oil and it works perfectly with sensitive skin too! I have a full review of it in this post! Sticking with cleansers, the Cerave Hydrating Cleanser RRP £9.50 is another top notch budget pick! It’s so simple, packed full of ceramides and hyaluronic acid, doesn’t foam up too much and leaves my skin feeling clean and hydrated! I am kicking myself for not getting on The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser RRP £5.50 hype train sooner! Another lovely, hydrating cleanser, removes makeup well but also lightweight enough to use as a second or morning cleanse! Will be getting the jumbo size once this is finished! Both of these also made my best beauty discoveries of 2020 post!

Next up, a product that is a little over budget – the Hada Labo Tokyo Super Hydrator Lotion RRP £17.45 – I’ve included it because its always 1/3 off on Superdrug so can be picked up for £11.59 on offer! It contains 3 different types of hyaluronic acid and really helps keep moisture locked in all day for me. It also comes in a huge 150ml bottle so will last forever! Full review in my Roacccutane Diaries Month One post! The Garden of Wisdom Hyaluronic Acid Serum RRP £10 is another hyaluronic acid I really rate. Again, my skin feels hydrated all day long when using this!

I am a big fan of a facial mist and I have two new budget faves! The Sukin Original Hydrating Mist Toner RRP £7.95 (I have a mini that was £2.50) is perfect for misting throughout the day to cool down and hydrate with and I have a full review in my last current face mists post! The Heritage Rosewater and Glycerin RRP £7.99 is newer to me but again perfect for a quick burst of hydration as a skincare step or throughout the day over makeup! The only thing I don’t love about this one is the pump action which isn’t so much a mist but a violent spray!

Moving onto serums now and this is the second bottle of Good Molecules Discoloration Correcting Serum* RRP $12 I’ve been through! Containing tranexamic acid, niacinamide and glycerin, this is a beautiful serum that sinks in quickly and targets uneven skin tone and pigmentation. The results for me have not been dramatic as my pigmentation from old acne is quite bad but being on Roaccutane means I can’t use retinol or glycolic acid right now which are my normal go to’s and this has been so gentle and brilliant at evening out my skin tone (full review here). The Inkey List Q10 Serum RRP £4.99 has been a revelation to me as I find their products quite hit and miss but this one is most certainly a hit! It’s a hydrating antioxidant that minimises the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and I didn’t even realise how much I liked it until it was empty! The price is insane and if you are worried about early signs of aging or environmental stressors what are you waiting for, pick it up! One budget moisturiser I have been loving is the Cerave PM Facial Moisturising Lotion RRP £12. Containing ceramides, hyaluronic acid and niacinamide this is a lightweight but still nourishing overnight moisturiser. It sinks in quickly but my skin doesn’t feel dried out!

best budget eyecreams

Finally, budget eye creams seem to be my thing! Another from Cerave - their Eye Repair Cream RRP £12 is such a simple lightweight hydrating cream. Like the cleanser and moisturising lotion it contains ceramides and hyaluronic acid and it’s great for puffiness and dark circles and sits under makeup very well too. This featured in a recent forever repurchased post too and Cerave is always 1/3 off or 3 for 2 at Look Fantastic or Boots! The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG RRP £5.80 is a lightweight watery serum that feels so cooling and instantly refreshes my under eye area, reducing puffiness and dark circles. The last product I have is also the newest to me! It’s the Good Molecules Yerba Mate Wake Up Eye Gel * RRP $6 and it is a beautiful gel formula that sinks in quickly and hydrates my under eye area. Yerba mate is an antioxidant and the eye gel contains three forms of hyaluronic acid. Like the other two, it also helps with puffiness and dark circles and brightens and the packaging is cute to boot!

Best Beauty Discoveries 2020 | Skin and Bodycare

best skincare body care 2020

Welcome back everyone! I hope you were able to have a nice break over the holidays! I’ve been keeping a little list over the last couple of weeks of what my favourite skin and body care products have been this year and that’s what I’m going to share today! Ideally, I would have had hair and makeup favourites in this too but as always there are just too many to mention so I’ll get that up next week! I don’t think any of these are new releases for this year but they were new to me either at the very end of 2019 when it was too early for me to know how much I loved it or has been purchased this year!

best body care 2020

Starting with body products, the Bioderma Atoderm Ultra-Nourishing Anti-Irritation Shower Oil (full review) which quickly became a favourite when I picked it up to help with my drier skin due to going on Roaccutane (this will be a theme throughout this post lol). It’s so soothing, hydrating and not greasy at all! I have a full review here but I cannot recommend this enough especially if you find you get dry patches or drier skin in the winter! I’ve recently got sent some more bits from their Atoderm body range which I have been enjoying too but too soon to say they are my best discoveries of the year :P

Sticking with bodycare, the Bali Body Self-Tanning Mousse* (full review) is the only fake tan I have used this year! It has a guide colour so is fool proof and it leaves a beautiful medium darkness natural tan when left overnight to develop! I can get a good 4-5 days out of this when I moisturise well and even when it starts to wear of it’s so even I don’t notice! Finally, in the bodycare category, I have to mention the OUAI Melrose Place Eau de Parfum (full review). I have worn this nearly every day since I got it earlier this year! It’s the perfect subtle, rose scent and I will be so upset if they ever discontinue it (which happens to all my favourite perfumes)!

best skincare 2020

Moving onto skincare now and I’m going to try and go through these quickly as I feel like they get featured a lot on my blog already so I don’t want to bore you! Starting with cleansers, I finally picked up two very hyped budget cleansers this year and loved them both! The Cerave Hydrating Cleanser is just perfect at the minute for my morning cleanse, it’s a very simple cleanser packed full of ceramides and hyaluronic acid that doesn’t foam up too much and leaves my skin feeling clean and hydrated as you would expect from the name! Similarly, The Ordinary Squalane Cleanser is another hydrating product that can be used as a first or second cleanse and I am kicking myself for not getting on this hype train sooner! It feels beautiful, breaks down makeup easily and leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated! Will definitely be getting the big size next!

Next up, I have fallen in love with quite a few toners this year so this was a hard one for me but the Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner (full review) is one I have fully used up, loved and repurchased! It’s gel like, cooling and most importantly for my skin at the minute - hydrating! In terms of treatments, the Paula’s Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant (full review) was a game changer for me at the start of the year. It works amazingly on congested, oily skin and my skin always looks so much clearer and brighter the morning after use!

Moving onto hyaluronic acid and the Hada Labo Tokyo Lotion No1 Super Hydrator has impressed me so much – it contains 3 different types of hyaluronic acid and really helps keep moisture locked in all day for me. I was so worried going on Roaccutane about the skin dryness but I have been shocked at how well my skin is coping and this is one of the products I have been using every day! It’s also very reasonably priced for such a huge bottle!

This year I have really gotten into K Beauty and I have started incorporating steps I wouldn’t normally such as using as essence and my weapon of choice is the I’m From Mugwort Essence (full review). It’s 100% mugwort and perfect for irritated skin, it absorbs quickly, adds an extra layer of hydration for me and keeps my skin feeling smooth too!

The Vichy Mineral 89 Daily Booster has been my serum of choice over the last few months now and I’ll confess I have had this before a few years ago when I wasn’t blogging as much so I am cheating a bit but it has really come into its own for me this year! I was previously a fan of the Vichy Aqualia Thermal but with alcohol denat quite high up on the list in that one I made the switch to this and haven’t looked back! It’s a really cooling gel serum that hydrates my skin and makes it plump!

Cerave Eye Repair Cream is another one I think I let fly under the radar. It’s a very simple lightweight cream, great for puffiness and dark circles and sits under makeup very well too, this is my backup as I repurchased straight away after finishing the first one I had!

Finally, I have a couple of facemasks to share! First up, the Dermalogica Hydro Masque Exfoliant* (full review) which delivers in bucketloads on hydration and gentle exfoliation. It contains snow mushroom for hydration and bamboo to exfoliate as well as cucumber extract (which it smells like) to soothe and it’s so effective! It only needs to be left on for 5 minutes and my face feels instantly refreshed, hydrated and exfoliated! And even better, it’s fine on my currently sensitive skin! I also want to give the Huxley Secret of Sahara Sleep Mask: Good Night a mention as it’s been in constant use since I got it! It contains Pricky pear seed oil, hyaluronic acid and centella asiatica and though it’s an overnight mask it is very lightweight and absorbs quickly but somehow my skin doesn’t dry out overnight. I wake up with hydrated, smooth and plump skin so this is a winner for me! It’s also very cooling and soothing!

dermalogica hydro masque exfoliant review

And that’s my round up of my favourite skin and bodycare discoveries this year! I think the Dermalogica mask is the only product that was actually released this year haha! I would love to know if we share any of the same favourite’s or what some of yours were! Let me know in the comments!
