Skincare Review | K Beauty Favourites #3

k beauty favourites

Time for part three of my K Beauty Favourites! I’ve been using all of these for quite a while now and have been loving them in my routine! It’s also been ten years since I started this blog (next week to be exact) which is crazy! Anyway, let’s get on to some reviews!

sioris drops of omija review

Sioris Drops of Omija Calming Ampoule*

This is a beautiful, lightweight, calming serum that leave my skin feeling soft and soothed. It contains cica, floral extracts as well as propanediol and trehalose for long-lasting moisture. I use this when my skin is feeling sensitised, or I want to simplify my routine as it’s so hydrating! It works well to reduce inflammation and soothe redness and I think helps repair my barrier aswell!

Sioris Drops of Omija Calming Mist*

The matching mist is even more beautiful! I went through this so quickly as I loved it so much! It’s an antioxidant and inflammatory mist that contains 34% Omija extract, Centella Asiatica extract, aloe vera leaf juice, Zinc PCA and beta-glucan and is so soothing and calming! My skin feels hydrated, redness is reduced and my skin barrier feels strong! Preferred this to the infamous Sioris Time is Running Out Mist! This also featured in my Best Beauty Discoveries of 2024 post here!

k beauty mists essence serum best

Mixsoon Bean Essence*

This is a viscous essence (think snail mucin) but it contains fermented soybean extract to hydrate and control sebum. It’s also got fermented pomegranate which is a natural AHA and fermented Korean pear, an antioxidant that brightens and repairs the skin. I love this for both morning and evening and it feels hydrating and smoothing!

k beauty favourites dr ceuracle

Dr Ceuracle Vegan Kombucha Tea Essence*

A creamy essence with kombucha tea extract and green tea leaf water, it’s hydrating and balancing and feels very lightweight! Essence is the first thing I forget about in my routine but I definitely need to remember to use this more as it makes my skin feel so soft!

k beauty favourites dr ceuracle

Dr Ceuracle Vegan Kombucha Tea Gel Cream*

Another product from the Kombucha Tea line and this is the perfect summer moisturiser! It’s a gel formula and feels cooling on the skin as well as lightweight. It’s not quite hydrating enough for me in the winter but is perfect for the summer months and for oily or combo skin! The Kombucha helps strengthen the moisture barrier and balance oil production while green tea extract has antioxidant properties.

By Wishtrend Vitamin A-mazing Bakuchiol Night Cream*

A really solid, gentle, retinal and bakuchiol combo in a handy pump bottle! This has a yellow colour to it due to the retinol, feels lightweight and sinks in quickly. My skin has never reacted to it so it would be perfect for beginners to retinal and it leaves my skin feeling smooth, plump and hydrated!

k beauty favourites spfs

Dr Ceuracle Cica Regen Vegan Sun SPF50+ PA++++*

Absolutely obsessed with this SPF, it also featured in my Best Beauty Discoveries of last year which I linked earlier! It is a chemical sunscreen formulated with centella asiatica extract and bamboo complex and helps calms inflammation and protects skin against external aggressors. It’s has a lightweight cream texture and it absorbs quickly into skin leaving no white cast and doesn’t pill! I love the antioxidant properties! Seems to be out of stock currently but hopefully it’s back soon!

Anua Heartleaf Silky Moisture Sun Cream SPF 50+ PA++++*

Another great chemical SPF! This one is also anti-inflammatory and antioxidant rich, sinks in quickly, leaves no white cast and doesn’t pill! As well as heartleaf, it contains panthenol, so feels calming on my skin and it help controls oil so is perfect for my combo skin! There is no eye stinging with either of these SPF’s either! Neither are fully matte but both are perfect bases under my makeup!

Skincare Review | Blue Beauty with Biotherm

biotherm skincare overview review

I’m back today with a one brand review of Biotherm and some products I was sent that I’m either finished or very nearly finished! To give a little history of the brand, it was founded in 1952 and is a division of L’Oréal. Their hero product is life plankton, a microorganism found in the French Pyrenees that contains 35 nutrients to deliver intense regenerating hydration for visibly soothed and soft skin. It is 100% natural, biodegradable and renewable and works to balance, firm, provide antioxidants, smooth and refine the skin. Biotherm’s focus is on hydration and they are committed to using more renewable ingredients, creating more formulas that respect the oceans, developing more sustainable designs and empowering a global community of water lovers.

biotherm review

Starting off with the Biotherm Cera Cream to Foam Cleanser RRP $38 CAD* and I’ve always been a bit wary of foaming cleansers so honestly expected this to dry my skin out as it really does lather up more than any other cleanser I have tried before! It’s a vegan formula that is soap free and contains bioceramides, niacinamide and life plankton. It left my skin feeling squeaky clean, hydrated and soft and never felt dry or tight. I also love the scent though I know some people don’t like added scent but this is fresh like the ocean! The packaging is also made from 24% recycled plastic packaging and the formula is 99% biodegradable.

The Biotherm Life Plankton Elixir RRP $107 CAD / £69* is a beautiful hydrating and soothing serum that contains glycerin, life plankton and Vitamin C. It’s also scented and I am obsessed with the smell – it’s so fresh and “blue” and it really adds to the experience for me. This makes my skin feel hydrated and supported and it looks brighter and feels smoother! I notice my fine lines less and I love the packaging too, the dropper has a chrome look, it just feels so luxe!

biotherm skincare review

The Biotherm Cera Repair Barrier Cream RRP $65 CAD / £58* was a dream to use! I loved this as my daytime moisturiser as it sat so well under my makeup and kept my skin hydrated all day. That will be thanks to the ceramides as well as the life plankton! The formula felt thick yet sank in straight away and worked overtime on drier patches around my nose, repairing my barrier. My skin felt soft, soothed and well supported and I abandoned all my other day creams for this as I loved it so much!

biotherm blue retinol range review

Moving onto a couple of retinol products now and the Blue Retinol Night Serum RRP $99 CAD / £75* contains 0.25% retinol as well as life plankton, glycerin, HA and niacinamide. This has worked well to smooth and even my skin tone while targeting fine lines and I use it 2-3 times a week. The formula is creamy and doesn’t cause any sensitivity or peeling for me!

biotherm retinol review

Also at night, I loved the Biotherm Blue Pro-Retinol Multi Correct Cream RRP $103 CAD / £72*. It’s a rich overnight cream containing pre-retinol, life plankton and niacinamide that smoothed my skin leaving it plump the next morning and making fine lines less visible. It felt so luxurious and hydrating and I used this on nights I also used the serum as well as nights I didn’t! I’m not sure what percentage retinol this equates to and I can’t find it online but my skin drank it up and I am missing it from my routine now it's finished!

Read more about the Life Plankton Elixir, Retinol Night Serum and Pro-Retinol Multi Correct Cream which made it into my Best Skincare Discoveries of 2023! The products are pricey but I have really enjoyed using them and they are regularly on sale (there is a sale on their website right now for Lunar New Year!).

Biotherm products are available to buy from their website and Shoppers Drug Mart in Candada and Look Fantastic in the UK! Have you tried the brand?

Skincare | Top Five Summer Moisturisers

Now, I might have said summer moisturisers but honestly these five are great all year round, it just happens to be the end of summer! I'll also preface this by saying my skin is combo/oily!

best summer moisturisers

The Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream RRP £45 for 50ml* is a creamy but lightweight moisturiser and acts as a great base for my makeup as well as hydrating my skin throughout the day but also works well overnight! It is patented with Active Hydramesh Technology to give skin 48 hour’s worth of hydration and also protects against environmental stressors. I haven’t gone a full 48 hours without doing my skincare routine but the biggest indicator this works for me is how plump my skin still looks after a full day of work and activities! Full review here!

Sticking with Dermalogica and their Biolumin-C Gel Moisturizer RRP £65* became a firm favourite last summer! It’s a lightweight gel moisturiser and my skin looks instantly brighter when I use it. As well as Vitamin C, it contains five types of hyaluronic acid and squalane so keeps my skin hydrated, barrier protected and leaves a glowy finish! I love using this in the morning as my makeup sits so well underneath and it’s got a subtle citrusy scent that doesn’t last on the skin! Love this formula and it’s become one of my favourite Dermalogica products! Full review here!

Something a little more budget friendly this time but equally as good is The Inkey List Omega Water Cream RRP $14.99*. Out of the Inkey List moisturisers I have tried this is by far my favourite they have! It’s a water-based gel that contains three omegas to help prevent water loss as well as glycerin to hydrate and niacinamide to control oil and brighten skin. It sinks in quickly and works well under makeup and leaves my skin feeling hydrated all day long! Full review here!

Next up, the Murad Nutrient-Charged Water Gel RRP £65* is another favourite. It’s oil-free, lightweight and instantly hydrates, plumps and locks in moisture. It’s made up of five vitamins (B3, 5, 6, 9 and E), five minerals (silicon, iron, zinc, copper and magnesium) and five peptides to smooth skin, reduce the appearance of fine lines, improve tone and texture and restore the skins barrier. A little goes a long way with this one and like it promises, my skin feels and looks plump, smooth and hydrated, fine lines are less visible and it provides a lovely base for makeup, working well SPF as well! Full review here!

Lastly, probably my most repurchased moisturiser ever, the Dr Jart Ceramidin Cream RRP $65! This one feels like more of a balm than a standard moisturising cream but never leaves my skin feeling greasy. It’s packed full of five different ceramides, glycerin and panthenol and locks hydration in all day. It sits well under makeup and a tube lasts a long time taking me right into the winter season where it works just as well for my skin! It’s both lightweight enough for daytime but also rich enough for overnight and my skin drinks this stuff up and I always go back to it! It’s hydrating, soothing and restoring! A must have! Full review here!

Skincare Review | Bondi Sands Everyday Skincare

bondi sands everyday skincare review

I got sent the cutest package from Bondi Sands’ new(ish) skincare range a few months ago so thought it was about time I wrote about them! If you are a regular reader, you’ll know how much I love their self-tan range so I was excited to see they had expanded into skincare! I was sent three products to try but there are plenty more in the range and they come under five categories – cleanse, treat, hydrate, protect and mask. Bondi Sands are an Australian brand, vegan and cruelty free and as well as having a vast tanning and skincare range they also do bodycare and suncare!

The product that immediately stood out to me after only a few uses was the Thirsty Skin Hyaluronic Acid RRP £8.99*. I tend to have expensive taste when it comes to hyaluronic acid so I was only too happy to find a budget formulation I love! This one is the thickest formula I have tried, and I love the gel texture! It spreads easily, leaving my skin feeling soft and supple, locking in moisture and plumping and filling out my fine lines! As well as HA, it also contains glycerin and is an all-round goodie if you are looking a budget HA serum! See more here!

Next up is the Bondi Babe Clay Mask RRP £11.99* and it’s another hit! This is a blue clay mask that purifies and detoxifies skin to help clear complexion. It contains blue spirulina extract (antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties), bentonite clay (to soak up excess sebum) and Red Algae Extract (helps reduce redness). It dries down quickly but doesn’t make my skin feel tight and after washing off after 10-15 minutes, my skin feels so soft and looks so much more refined and clearer! This has quickly become one of my favourite clay masks and it doesn’t feel harsh or drying at all!

Lastly, to round up this trio, is the Sweet Dreams Night Moisturiser RRP £10.99*! This has a lightweight consistency and contains hyaluronic acid for hydration, squalane to soften and blue algae extract to smooth. This has worked well for me during the summer but I think during winter I will want something heavier! Despite feeling lighter than other night creams I use, this does keep my skin hydrated overnight and when I wake up, my face feels plump and nourished. I will probably mix this with an oil in winter if I want an extra hit of hydration!

bondi sands everyday skincare

I also have to mention the packaging – how cute? It’s so kitsch and I love it! It almost reminds of my toy skincare or something, it’s so dinky! It’s all recyclable too and the products are fragrance free.

Overall, my first foray into Bondi Sands skincare has been a success and I think they are well worth checking out! The stand outs for me are the clay mask and hyaluronic acid! As well as their own website, Bondi Sands skincare is also available from Cult Beauty, Boots and Look Fantastic! Have you tried anything? What’s your favourite budget beauty brand?
