Forever Repurchased #4

soap and glory clean girls nivea soft lush magic wand nivea soft review

This year I’m making it my mission not to purchase things I don’t need and so far, so good (doubt it will last for too long!) but here are a few recent repurchases that I picked up round Christmas that I just can’t be without!

My favourite nail polish and this is probably the 4th or 5th time I have repurchased because it’s the only nail polish I ever get to the end of! This is the only clear coat I use on my fingernails now as it’s just so good! It gives the most amazing shine to my nails and makes them feel so much stronger and longer. It’s recommended to do two coats then add another coat every other day and I will usually do the two coats then forget about topping up the rest of the week but there is no flaking or chipping with this anyway! Full price it’s expensive so I buy mine on eBay from a reputable seller but if you have weak/brittle nails or just like a high shine you need to try this!

Soap and Glory Clean, Girls body wash
I am completely obsessed with the Mist You Madly scent that Soap and Glory do so even though I have about four bottles of back up shower gels, including other scents from Soap and Glory, I need a bottle of this at all times! I love to layer this up with the body spray and find the musky scent lasts on me all day! The shower gel itself feels super moisturising and looks almost pearlescent when I rub it in and it lathers up nicely! At £6.50 for 500ml, it’s a bargain too!

This is another product I like to have to hand even though I’m never short on moisturisers at home either! I was in Savers just before Christmas and they always have a basket of these near the till so I always end up picking one up! I can’t remember how much this was but I don’t think it was anymore that £2.99 so again another bargain and a moisturiser that I find so lightweight and fresh. It absorbs quickly and leaves my skin feeling lovely and soft!

Lush Magic Wand Reusable Bubble Bar
I’m cheating slightly with this one because it was actually my mum who repurchased it for me and even though it’s a limited edition Christmas product I couldn’t help but mention it as I love it so much! On the whole, I think Lush is seriously overpriced and I would never go in and buy a bath bomb, however I love their Christmas sets and think they are far better value! This was in the set my mum got me for Christmas and I’ve had this bubble bar before and loved it! It’s scented of Snow Fairy which I love and gives me a pastel pink bubble bath that leaves my skin silky soft – what more could you want! I just run this under the tap for about 10-15 seconds and then leave it sitting in a soap dish to dry out until my next bath! The glitter washes off after the first dunk and when I had it last year it did me for so many baths so I think this is well worth the money! I’d definitely try out the pink flamingo one Lush do all year round if you think you’d like something like this!

A Nail Polish Obsession #2

essie midnight cami nailpolish on nails swatched

First off, when did it become Christmas Eve! This month seems to have gone so quickly and I can’t believe its Christmas tomorrow! Anyway, I thought I would put a quick post up today, a little earlier than I usually would, to show you the latest colour I can’t stop repainting my nails with - Essie Midnight Cami. This shade has not been off my nails the past month and it will be on them all over Christmas too!

It's described by Essie as a deep twilight blue with shimmer and I absolutely love it! It’s so dark its almost black but when you catch it in the light you see a gorgeous subtle shimmer that gives it a little extra somethin’ somethin’.

My photo of this shade on my nails (and cuticles - oops) really doesn’t do this nail polish any justice but hopefully you can see the shimmer a little more in the bottle! (Sidenote - photography and editing are two things I really want to work on this year!)

As usual I have been using my trusty OPI Nail Envy as a base coat and Seche Vite as a top coat. I usually find that Essie polishes chip very easily on my but this combo is working really well and its at least three days before I have a few chips at the top of my nails! The Seche Vite also saves me so much drying time! The Essie brush is wide enough that three swipes does my full nail and the colour is opaque in two coats and it the most perfect wintery deep blue!

What do you think of this shade? Can you recommend me any others I might like?

I hope you all have a lovely Christmas and get what you wished for and thanks so much for all your comments this year!

A Nail Polish Obsession #1

OPI My Very First Knockwurst nail polish

Now I’m usually all about the dark vampy reds, purples and navy’s this time of year but this OPI polish has caught my attention and I cannot get enough! This stuff has not left my nails for longer than two days since I got it a month ago and I can’t see that changing anytime soon!

If you have read my Manicure Essentials post you will know that I usually forego coloured nail polish on my fingernails and save it for my toenails. This is because I cannot stand chipped nail polish or more likely, my obsession with then picking the rest of the polish off! This stuff however is on a whole other level and the little nail combination I have been using has ensured this is the longest lasting manicure I’ve ever had, lasting a good four days before chipping which is a lifetime for me!

OPI My Very First Knockwurst manicure Nail Ency Seche Vite

As usual, I apply my OPI Nail Envy as a base coat, this is the most amazing nail polish ever and I often wear this on its own because it gives the most amazing shine to my nails and really strengthens them. Nail Envy was actually the only OPI nail polish I had tried prior to getting this one but I have a feeling this will change as I love the formulation of the two I have so much!

I first saw OPI My Very First Knockwurst on my friend at works nails about a month ago and had to know what it was! She couldn’t remember and wrote it down for me that evening and I had it ordered before break time at work the next day! It is the most perfect nude-y, pinky, pastely, chic, sophisticated shade of nail polish I have ever owned and I am obsessed with it! I mentioned that I have been so impressed with the wear time which could be down to the top coat I've been using (I haven’t tried it without).

Now I know Seche Vite hasn’t got the best ingredients in it but boy does it dry fast! Gone is the endless flapping of my hands to try and dry my nails quicker only to hit something by accident and smudge my whole nail anyway! Overall, this has become my nail dream team and I can’t stop wearing it!

What nail colours have you been loving recently? Do you like this one or is it too nude for you?

My Manicure Essentials

danielle's beauty blog manicure essentials

Giving myself a manicure is a weekly must for me, I like my nails to look neat and clean and most of all – shiny!! I’m not a massive wearer of coloured nail polish on my fingernails (toe nails are a different story – I have to have them painted!) but I always have a clear coat of nail polish on. Here are the steps I take when I’m giving myself a manicure at home!

I usually do this after a shower or bath because your nails are softest after being in the water! I’ll take a few cotton tail cotton pads to remove my nail polish along with Cutex Ultra Cleansing Nail polish remover which I have went through countless bottles of because it my favourite! I then take my Leighton Denny Glass Nail File and file my nails, making sure to only file in one direction so as not to cause breakages! I love glass nails files so much, they make the edge of the nail so smooth and file so quickly! They are a bit dearer than standard files or emery boards but so worth it!

I then use Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover and put a small amount around each cuticle, leave for 15 seconds then push the cuticles back with my new Leighton Denny Hoof Stick, I was using wooden orange sticks before this but I far prefer the Leighton Denny one! After rinsing this off, I then take my favourite clear coat which is OPI Nail Envy. This stuff makes my nails so shiny and doesn’t flake or peel off like other clear polishes I’ve tried in the past. I couldn’t be without this stuff now, I usually buy mine from Ebay as its much cheaper, just make sure you get a genuine one from a top rated seller!

If I’m in a rush I sometimes use either Avon Nail Experts Liquid Freeze or Bourjois Instant Dry Nail Enamel Dryer to quickly dry my nails or if I’m in an even bigger rush I run them under the cold water tap as this sets the nail polish and stops them from smudging! Last but not least, to keep my hands feeling as good as my nails look I use a hand cream. I’m currently using the Soap and Glory Super Cream Hand Cream. This smells amazing, moisturises really well and dries in quickly so you can get back to what you were doing :)

What are your manicure essentials?
