Product Empties #31

product empties and reviews

It has been a hot minute since my last empties – the end of December to be precise! I have been making very slow progress for some reason, especially on skincare and makeup but I have plenty of body and hair care products to talk through!

haircare empties verb olaplex

Haircare

SportFX Body Build Dry Shampoo

I’m actually finding it really hard to judge dry shampoos at the minute as I’m still on Roaccutane so being blessed with “normal” hair and not ridiculously greasy hair that needs to be washed every two days. This worked fine for me but I can’t say for sure how good it would be on oily roots! No white cast but I found the vanilla scent a bit meh and it’s not readily available at the usual places I shop (got it in a Latest in Beauty box ) so won’t be repurchasing!

VERB Volume Conditioner

This empty has been a long time coming haha, I brought it home from Canada in the middle of August 2019 and it kind of got forgotten about but I am so sad it’s finished now! I hope they start selling here in the future! I got this from Sephora and it’s so affordable for such a big bottle plus it works really well – I don’t notice massive volume (I have long fine hair) but it leaves me with lots of shine and hydration! Would repurchase if I could!

Olaplex No.0

This is my second bottle of this and to be honest I can’t tell much difference with or without it as the primer for my long term favourite No.3. You saturate your hair with this, wait 10 minutes then apply No.3 and in conjunction they work to repair damaged hair. I get about 4 uses out of this as my hair is quite long and after use it certainly feels and looks healthier. I haven’t repurchased just yet but I think I will in the future as I trust Olaplex as a brand and want to give it more of a go!

Olaplex No.3

I am obsessed with this and it is probably the best thing I have ever bought for my hair! I spoke more about it in this Haircare Essentials post too but I have been using this for years now and can’t see myself without it! Breakage is dramatically reduced and hair feels much stronger and healthier! This was a mini I got with the No.0 but I have already repurchased the full size!

bodycare empties aveeno bioderma

Bodycare

Soap and Glory Clean on Me Shower Gel

Going to be a real negative Nancy for a minute to complain about Soap and Glory but they have discontinued my favourite scent Mist you Madly and come out with a bunch of generic fruity scents to replace the original, distinctive scents they became known for and I am so disappointed! I think there have been big delays with stock during the pandemic so I am not sure if now Clean on Me is also discontinued or just permanently out of stock but where I was once a loyal fan, their new products just don’t interest me anymore *shrugs*. I will always repurchase Clean on Me (if I can find it again) and anything else Original Pink scented (still devastated they discontinued the perfume) but I wish they would bring back Mist you Madly and a quick stalk of their socials shows a lot of other people would like them to as well! Rant over!

Aveeno Moisturising Cream

This is the second one of these I have gone through now since I’ve been on roaccutane and it works really well for my skin! It’s been keeping it nicely hydrated and I like how it’s got a pump and there is a lot of product in there too which is great considering how much moisturiser I go through - it sinks in quickly as well which is a bonus! The only downside is that it’s unscented which yes is a good thing for sensitive skin, but I do generally like my moisturiser to be scented so I find this a bit boring! Already using my backup!

Bioderma Atoderm Ultra gentle shower gel*

This feels good and doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight, it has a light scent and worked well to help stop scratching! I went through this quite quickly though and I prefer the oil cleanser so won’t be a repurchase!

Bioderma Atoderm ultra nourishing cream*

This is really soothing on my skin and keeps it hydrated all day long and again, doesn’t leave me wanting to itch my skin later in the day! It also has a light scent too (though I can’t really detect it) but again I went through it very quickly so would get the bigger pump bottle next time! Wrote about all three of the above more in this post about the bodycare I am using while on Accutane here! Would repurchase!

Lanolips Everywhere multi cream

My mum recommended this as she loves it and like the name suggests, this is made for use everywhere – face, body, hands, under eyes etc! I used it as a body moisturiser and though it hydrated my skin well without leaving a greasy feel, I went through it so quickly! They do have a pump version that is double the size of product for £14 which works out better value so I will be picking that up next time as I do like the formula! Full review here!

Soaper Duper Marvellous hand cream

Got this in a beauty box, moisturised my hands well without leaving them greasy and a very generous size for a hand cream I thought but I don’t love the scent and it doesn’t seem to be available anymore anyway!

skincare empties good molecules caudalie

Skincare

Good Molecules Discoloration Correcting Serum*

My second one of these and a lovely lightweight serum containing 2% Cetyl Tranexamate Mesylate which works to improve the appearance of dark spots and hyperpigmentation as well as 4% niacinamide to target pores, uneven skin texture and oiliness! This was gentle enough for me to use while on Roaccutane and did a great job of evening out my skin tone though I didn’t see a huge change in targeted leftover pigmentation from spots! At $12 I will definitely repurchase! Full review here!

Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum

Another lightweight serum – I have went through a few minis of this but never purchased a full size though I know people rave about it. Like the GM I just mentioned, this is good for evening skin tone and works on pigmentation but at a higher price! Maybe I would feel differently after using up a full size but this isn’t a repurchase for me!

Bioderma Atoderm lip balm*

Really enjoyed this lip balm too, it has a little more slip than the Burt’s Bees which feels good and it’s got a subtle raspberry scent too. I like how it has a slanted tip as it feels a little fancier to apply and my lips have been really well hydrated throughout the day with this! Would repurchase! See my full review here!

Burt’s Bees lip balm

My fave, forever repurchased, minty, perfect for reapplying during the day lip balm, already have a backup!

miscellaneous empties

Miscellaneous

Spotlight Oral Care Teeth Whitening Strips and toothpaste

I picked these up last November as I wanted to start whitening my teeth before my birthday. It says use them every night for 2 weeks but I’ll confess I use them as and when I want a little lift! I wouldn’t say the whitening effect is anything crazy but my teeth definitely look brighter after use and I haven’t experienced any sensitivity! The toothpaste is ok, again I didn’t notice a huge amount of whitening and I would prefer it to be mintier! I have the Polished London set to try next but I think overall I would repurchase this if I got it on offer again!

MOA Dreamy Mineral Soak

Really nice relaxing bath soak, I used half the night before an interview and felt so calm afterwards and the other half more recently! Would repurchase.

Dettol Anti-Bacterial Hand Hygiene Gel

A must have since I started going into the office. I really like this, it dries quickly without drying out my hands! Will repurchase!

Botanics Eucalyptus Oil

Love the scent of this and I have been through a few of these now! I just put it into my diffuser, I would like to invest in some fancier oils and blends but for now this is cheap and cheerful! Already repurchased the scent but a different brand!

So that’s what I have emptied this year so far! I hope that has opened the floodgates now and I will have plenty more empties with less time between each post! Let me know if you have tried anything I’ve mentioned and what you though of it!

Product Empties #28

product empties dermalogica review skin accumax versed ouai

Well everyone, it’s that time again! The old Look Fantastic beauty box I use to house my empties is overflowing so here’s are the latest products I’ve finished up!

dermalogica review cleanser

Skincare

Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel*

Absolutely gutted to have finished this up as I love it so much! It’s a watery gel that lathers on contact with water and leaves my skin feeling matte and prepped for my next steps but never stripped! Wrote about it more in this post! Will repurchase 100%!

Dermalogica Active Clay Cleanser*

Another favourite! This one was perfect for my acne prone oily skin this summer and also doubles as a mask. I think I went through this one a bit quicker as my mum was using it too so it has her seal of approval also! Wrote more about it here and will repurchase!

Dermalogica Pre-Cleanse*

This is a really luxurious oil and it removes makeup with ease! It’s got a citrus scent and I did find my eyes could be a little irritated by it so for that reason I wouldn’t repurchase!

Dermalogica Skin Smoothing Cream*

A really simple but effective moisturiser, my skin drank this up! It’s creamy but lightweight and kept my skin hydrated all day and sat really well under makeup too! Would repurchase!

Dermalogica Biolumin-C Eye Serum*

This is a gorgeous lightweight serum that really helped with fine lines and firmness, I don’t have bad dark circles but my undereyes were definitely brighter using this! It’s pricey but with daily use I got about six months use out of it so would repurchase! Read more thoughts on it here!

Versed Baby Cheeks All in One Hydrating Milk

Really enjoyed this toner and it’s packaging! It was hydrating and calming and left my skin soft and prepped. I moved onto the infamous I’m From Rice Toner after this and though its early days I *think* I prefer it so probably wouldn’t repurchase this one! I have a post on it here!

The Inkey List Retinol

This is one of my favourite Inkey List products! I think it is a great introduction to Retinol as it feels so gentle (sorry, percentages and types of retinol are not my forte so do correct me if I’m wrong!) It’s quite liquidy and I always wake up to bright, plump skin after using! I used about ¾ of the bottle before switching to the next one I will talk about but I finished this on my neck! Already have a backup but I might give it to my mum as I want something stronger! Read more about it in my budget skincare picks here!

Verso Super Facial Serum

I love this, it felt more potent to me than the Inkey List retinol and I saw a marked improvement in my skin overall – especially my elevens and fine lines on my forehead as well as pigmentation on my lower cheeks and jawline. I was also impressed with how long this tiny sample lasted me! The only negative is that it is £110 for 30mls so it won’t be a repurchase for me right now as I want to try Medik8’s crystal retinal offering but I can see me coming back to this even with the price tag if that doesn’t compare!

Amorepacific The Essential Crème Fluid

This was a very nice hydrating fluid that felt smoothing and I really enjoyed the scent too but for the price it’s not worth it for me so won’t be a repurchase!

bodycare empties vaseline soap and glory soaper duper

Bodycare

Vaseline Essential Healing Body Lotion

Another empties another Vaseline body lotion! You can’t beat this cheap and cheerful moisturiser! I love the fresh scent and find the lotion itself is lightweight but nourishing and dries in quickly! Have already repurchased!

Soap and Glory Pulp Friction Body Scrub

My favourite body scrub! This isn’t my favourite scent but the scrub itself is amazing! It lathers up quickly and the “vitaminballs” don’t feel abrasive at all. This and a scrubbing mitt are a dream team for stubborn fake tan! I have a few other scrubs to get through then I will repurchase though knowing Soap and Glory they will have discontinued it by then as it's one of my faves!

Hawaiian Tropic Air Soft After Sun Lotion

I picked this up as I wanted some nostalgia as I didn’t get on holiday this year ha. I then realised it was the SPF I had previously not the after sun so it didn’t generate any feelings of being on holiday but I did enjoy the cooling feeling of it and its pretty swirly pattern in the bottle! Would repurchase but not any time soon.

Soaper Duper Creamy Deluxe Shea Butter Body Wash in Vanilla Pod

This was a very liquidy body wash and though I don’t normally love vanilla I was very impressed with how realistic the scent was! Not my normal jam so wouldn’t go out of my way to repurchase but I did enjoy it!

Sol de Janeiro Coco Cabana Cream

A much more subtle scent that its sister Bum Bum Cream and a lovely thick hydrating body cream. I do prefer the Bum Bum scent so I won’t repurchase this one!

haircare empties vo5 ouai

Haircare

V05 Refresh Dry Shampoo

My favourite dry shampoo that I cannot find anywhere except artisan grocery shops! What gives V05? This smells amazing, leaves no white cast and is only a few pounds so super affordable! I wish it was more easily available but if I see it again I will of course be repurchasing!

OUAI Leave In Conditioner

My favourite leave in product, this is smoothing, detangling and protective all while not weighing my hair down and smelling amazing! Read more about how much I love it here! Already repurchased!

revlon colourstay review collection review

Makeup

Revlon ColourStay Foundation (Combo/Oily) in Buff and Sand Beige

My OG favourite affordable foundation! This stuff is full coverage and long lasting on my oily skin! Buff matches me when I have no tan on and Sand Beige is for when I do have fake tan on! I find Sand Beige does oxidise slightly but I have no problems with Buff and have already repurchased! Read more about my love for it here!

Collection Lasting Perfection concealer in 1 Fair

Another affordable makeup love! This gives really good coverage without drying out my problem areas and I have already repurchased!

Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask in Champagne

Love the Bite lip masks, they are super thick so perfect for overnight hydration! I didn’t love the Champagne shade but it wasn’t a big deal as I just use it at night, already have a backup!

skin accumax review

Miscellaneous

Advanced Nutrition Programme Skin Accumax 120 capsules

I’ve talked about these a few times in my empties and unfortunately I haven’t seen much difference with them which was disappointing for me as I know some people swear by them! They are a pricey option so this time I haven’t repurchased. Let’s just hope my skin doesn’t get any worse haha but I’ve been off them for about 2 weeks now and no change. I’ve actually made an appointment with a dermatologist for the end of the month to discuss going back on Roaccutane so wish me luck!

Congratulations if you made it to the end of that! Let me know if you have tried any of the above products or what you are working on finishing at the minute!

Product Empties #27

product empties soap and glory ogx OUAI

Hi everyone and welcome to another bumper edition of empties! Not sure what happened but I was collecting these slowly then seem to have finished a bunch of full sizes within the last week so let’s get to it!

bodycare empties versed soap and glory

Bodycare
Soap and Glory Clean, Girls Body Wash
Hands down my favourite body wash ever and also the best Soap and Glory scent! And one I also fear they have discontinued because after a quick search it’s not even showing up on the Boots website. They recently revamped the body mists and to be honest the new version of Mist You Madly (Clean, Girls scent) has changed ever so slightly but it’s very noticeable to me as a regular user and it doesn’t last as long. They seem to be introducing numerous new products and scents so I fear it’s the end for my favourite but I would repurchase this in a heartbeat as it feels so hydrating, smells incredible and is excellent value for money! Also don’t understand why they ever got rid of the pump on these too, OK rant over!

This is such a beautiful dry oil that feels so nourishing and really does make my skin feel soft and supple. I like the scent though its’s nothing amazing but it is subtle and non-offensive and I love the spray bottle as it’s so easy to dispense! Also really affordable at £13.50! Would repurchase!

Nivea Soft Moisturising Cream
One of my OG faves, creamy, moisturising and smells so fresh and clean, I repurchase this constantly!

Marks and Spencer Magnolia Hand Cream
Pleasant hand cream, this was the last in a set of three. Nothing special so wouldn’t repurchase.

Cath Kidston Rose Hand Cream
The scent was a little too fake for my liking but this felt lovely and moisturising. Have other hand creams I prefer so wouldn’t repurchase.

haircare empties ogx klorane kms

Haircare
Batiste Dry Shampoo and De-Frizz
I don’t know why I bother with Batiste, it’s been a few years since I last bought it and I saw this new packaging and the promise of the invisible formula so thought I would give it another chance but I shouldn’t have bothered. It’s the same old formula that doesn’t soak up any oil and leaves a white cast and the scent is so old fashioned. Hopefully I have learned my lesson, will not be repurchasing!

OGX Keratin Oil Shampoo
Really nice, nourishing shampoo that felt very hydrating and smelt good! Can’t say much for the anti-breakage claim as I use so many other products after shampoo to help with that haha but it’s a nice affordable sulphate free shampoo I would repurchase!

Klorane Anti-Pollution protective conditioner
Super fresh smelling conditioner (I love the peppermint!) This is quite lightweight for a conditioner and I do prefer something thicker as my ends are so dry but it doesn’t weigh hair down and does make my hair feel softer. Klorane products are so gentle I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend but I won’t be repurchasing this.

KMS Free Shape
I used this as a hairspray and ended up quite liking it but after a quick google it doesn’t seem to be easily available in the UK anymore. I would repurchase but it’s not the end of the world that’s it’s not available (unlike Clean, Girls bahahah)!

I got this in a Cult Beauty GWP a while back and recently picked up the full size that’s how much I love it! Unlike most scalp scrubs I have tried, this one actually makes it to my scalp and really cleanses it from product build up. It’s sulphate free but gently foaming and leaves my hair so shiny and not dried out at all! £15 for a huge tub that will last ages and I couldn’t recommend more! Already repurchased!

skincare empties good molecules January labs alpha h ren

Skincare
This is a super gentle alcohol free toner that contains licorice root extract, arbutin and vitamin C as well as niacinamide. With continued use it targets uneven skin tone, dullness and visible pores and I do think this made my skin brighter and helped with ongoing pigmentation issues I have! It’s also super affordable at $14! Would repurchase! Read more about Good Molecules here!

Disciple Night Shift Cleanser
Really luxurious cleanser full of fruit oils and AHA’s - it removes makeup with ease (it comes with a face cloth too) and I love the green packaging however it does seem to collect some product buildup around the pump making it sticky which I hate. I wish this was scented a bit more like the facial oils as that would really have sold it for me but my skin does feel calm and plump after use! At £27 I won’t repurchase.

January labs Moisture Balancing Lotion
I have lost count of how many tubes of this stuff I have gone through now and sadly this will probably be my last one as Cult Beauty stopped stocking it and there is no new UK distributor! I am gutted more so about their Restorative Tonic Mist as that is one of my favourite skincare products of all time. The lotion is a lovely lightweight hydrating cream that I use in the daytime as it’s great under makeup. Would have repurchased if it was easily available L

Boots Glow Brightening Mist
Purchased this on a whim when I was browsing Boots online one day and saw that Niacinamide was high up on the ingredients list. To be honest I used it as a makeup refresher during the day so can’t say much for the skincare benefits but it felt cooling and hydrating and at £4 I would repurchase again though I will say I find the scent quite sweet and I don’t like it!

Containing tranexamic acid, niacinamide and hyaluronic acid this is a gentle serum that helps promote an even skin tone. It has a lovely formula that doesn’t feel tacky and it sinks in quickly working really well to target pigmentation. It’s $12 as well so amazing value for money and I would repurchase! Good Molecules have actually just sent me the updated nothing to hide ingredients list version of this so I am excited to get it back into my routine!

Can you tell I like Niacinamide haha? This serum also contains copper tripeptides and works as an antioxidant to help premature aging, retain hydration and enhance suppleness among other things! Just a great everyday serum to promote overall healthy skin and one I will repurchase!

Drunk Elephant F-Balm Electolyte Waterfacial
This is a heavily hyped overnight hydrating mask and one I just cannot get on board with. Every product I have tried from DE, I have felt very “meh” about and this is no different. Aside from their rep for bad customer service, I find the products overpriced and while this one did moisturise I didn’t wake up with thinking my skin looked or felt any more hydrated than when using a cheaper alternative! Would not repurchase!

REN Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic
Another one that didn’t live up to the hype for me! I don’t mind essential oils or fragrance in some products but in this It feels a little too astringent for me. It also contains lactic acid and salicin to exfoliate, brighten and hydrate with aims to leave a smooth, even and energised complexion. My skin definitely felt smooth, brightened and energised after using this but I just don’t love it, wouldn’t repurchase!

Malin + Goetz Revitalising Eye Cream
This is like Vaseline for your eyes but I really liked it! Perfect for night time as its quite thick and felt really hydrating! Fine lines were softened and I would consider getting this in the future when I am more concerned with deeper wrinkles round my eyes as opposed to the fine lines I have now as it’s on the pricey side at £68 for 15 mls (for reference this sample was 2.5ml).

miscellaneous empties skin accumax OUAI

Miscellaneous
I’ve gone through yet another pot of these and I really just can’t tell what they are doing for my skin *shrugs*, I am going to make my current pot my last as these are expensive and my skin is just still always breaking out. I also realised that I should have been taking 4 a day then moving down to 2 a day but whatever way I read it I thought it was 2 then 1 so I probably shot myself in the foot by not taking the higher dose. If you have any other supplement recommendations specifically for maintaining good skin please let me know!

Obsessed with this scent which is the same as the wave spray and leave in conditioner if you have ever had a sniff of those! I don’t find this the longest lasting on my skin but I forgive it as it smells so beautiful! I talked more about it in this post and I have already repurchased!

Congratulations if you got to the end of that! Let me know if you have used any of these up and what you thought!
