Beauty Spend Report | August 2022

beauty spend report august 2022 daniellesbeautyblog

Another month and another beauty spend report, I have been a little out of control this year and had a treat yoself’ mentality but at the same a time, a lot of the items I purchase are products I have been thinking about for a while and have taken advantage of a good offer before picking up!

next beauty box review

First up was the Next Game Changing Beauty box which was £20 with a value of over £77. It includes minis of my favourite cleanser, the Emma Hardie Moringa cleansing balm, as well as the Philip Kingsely Elasticizer, Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant, Clarins Beauty Flash Balm, Elemis Pro-Collagen Night Cream, Lancome Advanced Genifique Serum and Benefit Roller Lash. We all know I’m a sucker for a beauty box and I particularly wanted minis of the cleansing balm and elasticizer and I’m looking forward to trying the beauty flash balm too! My mum also picked this one up hehe.

Moving onto my main purchases this month and honestly, these days I’m not so taken with new beauty launches and have been picking up a few “old school” makeup items to add to my collection. I got myself the Tom Ford Soleil Glow Bronzer in Terra (Small) which is usually £54 but I used an influencer code to get 21% off so it was £42.66. I haven’t used this just yet as it’s been pretty hectic at home, I’m dogsitting and I also got Covid last week. It felt lighter in weight than I thought it would be but I’m not complaining as it will be easier to travel with and it came with a fancy pouch!

I also made a couple of DIOR purchases off Escentual – this has always been a bit of an old fashoned brand to me if I’m honest but I got the Forever Natural Bronzer at Christmas and I love it so wanted to explore the brand a bit more! I also noticed the price increase on the DIOR website but Escentual had these at the old price with a further 20% off so I got the Dior Addict Lip Glow in Rosewood RRP £29.50 (now £30) for £23.60 and the Crème Abricot Fortifying cream for nails RRP £22 (now £25) for £17.60. Definitely not necessities but like I said, treat yoself :P spoiler alert I might have also picked up a few other bits but they will fall into Septembers spend report.

Finally, continuing with my SPF buying spree (see last months post) I grabbed the Bondi Sands Hydra SPF 50+ Face Fluid from ASOS as I had a 30% off code so this was £7.70 instead of £11. I had ummed and ahhed earlier in the month when Ultra Violette did their buy one get one free offer ultimately deciding not to bother but Cult Beauty had 20% off and I had a £5 reward burning a hole in my pocket so the Supreme Screen Hydrating Facial Skinscreen SPF 50+ is mine and I got it for £22.16 instead of £34.

Overall, this month’s total was £133.72 instead of £170.50 and I’m sure you’ll see some of these pop up in reviews soon! Have you tried any? What was your last beauty purchase?

Beauty Spend Report | July 2022

daniellesbeautyblog beauty spend report july 2022

I thought I was going to get away with rolling July and any potential August purchases into one blog post but a little last minute beauty box purchase right at the end of the month made this collective haul big enough for one post, oops!

daniellesbeautyblog beauty spend report(1)

Starting with a few “boring” repurchases – my trusty Schwarpzkopf dry shampoo which I got in Home Bargains for £1.49 each instead of £2.99 and my favourite Nivea Double Effect eye makeup remover which was £2 in Superdrug instead of its RRP £3.99.

danielles beauty blog july 2022 beauty spend report(1)

I made one Look Fantastic order to finally get my hands on some cult favourite SPF’s I’ve wanted to try for a while as they had them on (I think) 20% off already then gave out a code for an extra 10% off. The La Roche Posay Anthelios UVMune 400 Invisible Fluid SPF50+ Sun Cream (what a mouthful!) was £12.97 instead of £18 and the Garnier Ambre Solaire Ultra-Light Sensitive Sun Protection Face Fluid SPF50+ was £5.39 instead of £8.

As always, I *needed* to get free delivery so added a couple more things to my basket including the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Body Gel Cream Moisturiser for Normal to Dry Skin for £4.49 instead of £5.99 and the Cantu Thick Detangle Sturdy Wash Day Comb for £2.87

Instead of £3.99. I am going through body products like crazy at the minute and have wanted a detangling comb for when my hair is wet for ages now. This one has been designed with curly and afro hair in mind – I have neither but my hair gets so tangled so easily and I’m hoping it will help minimise breakage! I think Look Fantastic might have upped their free delivery to spends £30 and over instead of £25 which sucks as I got all this for £25.72 so I think it’s gone up from then!

Lastly, and on the last day of the month, Latest in Beauty sent out a discount code for 30% off any of their boxes so I decided to get the Style Summer Essentials 2022 box which came to £33.60 instead of £48. I got this mainly for the Skingredients Skin Shield Moisturising + Priming SPF50 PA+++ which is full size and worth £51 while the overall contents of the box are worth £274. Also included is an Iconic London Triple Precision Brow Definer - Cool Brown (you can pick from a few different shades), The Body Shop Drops of Youth Concentrate, St. Tropez Gradual Tan Classic Lotion - Medium/Dark, Olverum The Dry Body Oil, Prai Beauty Ageless Upper Arm Crème, Code8 5Secs Hydrating Lip Colour in Voyage en Orient, Escentric Molecules Molecule 01 + Mandarin, Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Primer, Avant Brightening & De-Puffing Hyaluronic Overnight Eye Recovery Mask and the NUXE Organic Micro-Exfoliating Cleansing Mask. My mum also ended up getting me to order her one too when I told her about the offer!

beauty spend report daniellesbeautyblog july 2022

Overall, my total spend this month was £64.30 instead of £93.95. As always, I use Top Cashback where I can to place orders so I am pending cashback of £3.08 for my Look Fantastic order and £2.95 for the Latest in Beauty purchase. I really recommend them, and they partner with loads of beauty sites!

Did you buy much last month? I have a few makeup items on my wishlist but they’ve been going in and out of stock and we all know I don’t like paying full price for anything so I’ll keep patiently waiting ;)

Beauty Spend Report | June 2022

I’m back again this month with another spend report – those elusive no-spend months are evading me

daniellesbeauty blog beauty spend report june 2022

First up, on the 1st of June I saw the Look Fantastic X Sol de Janeiro box and I knew it was going to be a bad month lol how could I say no to it, look what’s included! It’s got the body wash, shampoo, hair mask, lip balm, body spray and of course the infamous Bum Bum cream The box was on sale for £40 but I had a 22% off code so this was £31.20. It sold out quickly but then did come back into stock however LF upped the price to £69 so I’m glad I grabbed it when I did!

sol de janeiro x look fantastic beauty box

I had a set of mini Clean rollerball perfumes a few years ago and had two favourites - in April I bought a full size of one of them so this month I got the other one. The Clean Classic Skin Eau de Parfum came from All Beauty and was £20.75 instead of £33 (not sure how accurate that RRP is!). This is a lovely subtle scent that is easy for me to wear – I am not a huge perfume buff and I find most scents overpowering or my favourites tend to get discontinued, so I am glad to have these two back in my life! I would like to try the Reserve versions, but I think they would be too strong…

Next, Cult Beauty got me again with a £5 account credit and as they also had 20% off I repurchased my favourite NatureLab Tokyo Clarifying Scalp Scrub (£17 – read more about it here) and I finally got the Evy Technology Daily Defence Face Mousse SPF 50 (£27) so instead of £44 for these two it came to £30.20. I also picked up the Schwarzkopf got2b Glued Brows Wand Gel for £3.49 instead of £4.50 from Amazon as i've been hearing good things!

ASOS had 20% off (as they regularly do) so I got the new Ordinary Multi Peptide Lash and Brow Serum for £9.92 instead of £12.40. Later in the month they had a surprise discount and mine was 25% off so I took the plunge and got a new pair of GHD Originals. My hair has been more damaged than normal recently and aside from needing a trim, I have been caring for it really well, so my heat tools were my last stop. I found out GHD’s generally only last 2-3 years (I think longer for the fancier versions) and my plates had a few small scratches. I stopped using mine for a month before and borrowed my mums instead and in that short time my hair felt in much better condition and to be honest I don’t even know how old mine were but definitely at least 5 years old if not more so I didn’t feel too bad about buying new ones. These were £89.25 instead of £119. I also finally got myself a Carry Case and Heatproof Mat which I have been meaning to get for years so hopefully this will protect them a bit better but definitely check your straightener plates if your hair has been feeling damaged! This was £16.46 instead of £21.95. These are both sold out at ASOS now but I’ve linked the GHD website!

Towards the end of the month Escentual had 25% off across their website and since I loved my mini Clarins Lip Comfort Oil in Honey so much I knew I’d have to pick up a full size! This was £15 instead of £20. I also grabbed a Tisserand Eucalyptus oil 20ml for my diffuser which was £6 instead of £8 (I think this is normally £12 full price but must have already been on offer!). I also needed something else for free delivery (yes I know I end up spending more than if I just paid delivery!) so got The Ordinary Granactive Retinoid 5% in Squalane for £9.30 instead of £12.40 as I wanted a retinoid on the more affordable side to use on my chest!

ASOS got me again with their 20% off and I had been eyeing up the new Sol De Janeiro Leave in Conditioner anyway but when I saw it was £22 on ASOS instead of the £28 I was seeing everywhere else I put it in my basket, so this ended up being £17.60. My first impressions of this are very positive too, it smells amazing and detangles so well! I also repurchased the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray as it was finally back in stock – I could only see the mini version everywhere recently – so this was £20.80 instead of £26! Full review here!

Finally, Pat McGrath had another sale on and I had been tempted by the Divine Blush Brush previously so just took the plunge since I was already in treat yourself mode! This was £23 instead of £30! So impressed with how quick shipping is too!

Overall, this month I spent £292.97 instead of £393.25. Still definitely more than I would like to be spending but at the same time my new GHD’s were included in that and I managed to get some stuff I really wanted for a good price! Did you buy much last month?

Beauty Spend Report | February and March 2022

I’m back with a combined beauty spend report as I had a low spend month in February! If only they could all be like that!

daniellesbeautyblog february march beauty spend report 2022

In February, along with a £20 subscription to the Liberty Beauty Drop Box, I repurchased two products. The first of which being a Real Techniques Setting Brush. I honestly can’t remember how long I had my original brush – it featured on my blog for the first time in 2015 and would have lasted many more years if I hadn’t lost it So mad at myself but I think I must have left it in a hotel room because I turned my bedroom upside down and couldn’t find it. I use it daily so picked the replacement up from Amazon as that’s where I found it for the cheapest price at £6.07 (RRP £7.99). The new version has a pink base rather than black and I would say it feels very slightly different though that could be because mine was so old! Anyway, it’s the best size for setting under the eye and eyelid too and I can’t recommend it enough!

I also just finished my favourite eye makeup remover so grabbed another Nivea Daily Essentials Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover for £1.99 from Savers. If you wear waterproof mascara you need this in your life! It’s a bio phase formula and the oil works to break down makeup all while being super gentle, not stinging eyes or leaving a fuzzy film over them! See more here! My total for February was £28.06.

Moving onto March now and as well as another £20 billing for the Liberty beauty box subscription, I picked up three Revlon Colorstay Foundations for Oily/Combo skin in the shade Buff as it was on 3 for 2 in Boots. Normally this is £12.99 per bottle so instead of £38.97 altogether it was £25.98 and because I had some vouchers from Christmas I only paid £3.37. Side note, when are Boots going to introduce being able to use gift cards online? So annoying. Anyway, this is my go-to work foundation as I don’t like wearing my more expensive foundations when I am just working from home! I have been repurchasing for years and it’s a great, long lasting, full coverage foundation and Buff is a perfect match for me! I don’t wear much drugstore makeup anymore, but this is one I always have in my collection! See more here!

Another trip to Savers for essentials resulted in me picking up some more dry shampoo – the Schwarzkopf dry shampoos feature heavily in my empties but I think I forget to add them into my spend reports as to me they are quite boring but £1.99 can’t be beaten! I also had a lovely trip to Prague in the middle of the month and took the opportunity to grab the Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Waterproof mascara which worked out at £3.10.

Moving onto a few more exciting end of the month purchases and I finally picked up the Fenty Beauty Cheeks Out Freestyle cream blush in Petal Poppin that I have wanted for ages! It’s usually £21 but Boots had 15% off and then a further 5% off for Mother’s Day making this £16.96. Lastly, I made a Look Fantastic order for a backup of the Barry M lip scrub which is just as good as my old favourite from Lush! Unfortunately, they didn’t have the mint flavour I wanted so I picked up bubblegum – it’s usually £4.99 but there’s always a 20% off code! I also grabbed the Maison Margiela Replica Memory Box 10 x 2ml as I have wanted to smell these for ages and this was £33 but I got 20% off too and also had a £5 credit on my account so this haul cost me £25.01 altogether instead of £37.99.

My total for March was £70.43 instead of £122.39 thanks to those discounts and gift cards and the total for the two months was £98.49. I think I am due another beauty box from Liberty in the middle of this month after which I might cancel the subscription. I have £80 in the account now but have to say I don’t find their beauty section that good so I’m not sure what I will pick up yet!
